Five down now, 154 scored. But Moeen Ali has brought up his 50 including some lovely boundaries.

Anderson's shoulder injury keeps him out of the Bangladesh tour but Cook says he will also have to miss the first Test in India.

Proper old school broadcasting on TMS at the moment, their line has gone down so they're having to commentate over the phone.

Decent first day for England in the end, with Moeen and Bairstow doing well.

But Mehedi Hasan Miraz is the star of the day - an 18 year old off spinner who has taken 5 for 64. Nice.

I like the fact that he would have been seven years old when Gareth Batty last played for England.

For some reason ITV4 are showing highlights of this series at 7pm every night.

            293 all out.
Moeen has struck twice with the ball already though, and Bangladesh are 29/2.

Strong partnership here though: 66 runs, 21.1 overs (Mahmudullah 26, Tamim Iqbal 38)

              Bangladesh move to 96/2.

Wickets for Rashid and Batty and Bangladesh are 116 behind with six wickets in hand.

Joe Root is having a bowl, too.

Good match this. Day two finishes with Bangladesh on 221-5.

Stokes keeps England afloat with ball and bat.

Bangladesh now 114/4 chasing 286. England's bowlers Batty and Rashid both have bowling averages pushing 60 - and that's after 2 quick wickets for Batty after lunch.

Bit of a minor classic. 234/7 needing 52 more. The 'Desh tail is not great.

Close of play at 253/8 as Cook doesn't want to bowl his spinners with the light too dark for the quicks. Tense.

Gripping stuff that. I think England will get an inevitable win tomorrow morning, but Bangladesh have proven they're more than a match. What time does it start tomorrow, BST? 5am?

I think so Rogin, it's been 5am the last couple of days. There's a part of me that would very much like to see Bangladesh win this.

Did they actually give Cook the choice? I was listening to the end on the radio while driving and it wasn't quite clear but I thought the umpires took the decision unilaterally.

Compelling match so far, would love to see Bangladesh get over the line.

They did, Cook was told Broad was being given a final over then it would be too dark for the seamers. As Cook didn't want to bowl spin at both ends they went off. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the spinners before India.

Strangely the BBC don't appear to have mentioned It on their commentary. OBO or match report - though it is clear in the Guardian's OBO for instance.

England should be OK with the seamers available in the morning, but credit Bangladesh for a fine effort.

It's a shame, but Bangladesh can take so much from this performance - it's their first test in 15 months, yet they very nearly won it. If Shakib hadn't had his moment of madness two balls into the third morning, they probably would have. According to Cricinfo's commentary, it's the first time they've taken 20 wickets against a top six nation. And they had two debutants put up excellent performances.

I saw the highlights. The video technology played a big role, but it seems to work very well and very efficiently. The NFL could learn a lot from that.

Yeah, I think test cricket has a good balance in use of video technology. Because of the limited number of reviews on offer, and because the assumption is always that the on-field umpire was right, within a margin of error, you generally don't have too many periods where you're waiting too long for decisions.

Looks like Batty and Broad out, Ansari and Finn in for tomorrow. Still apparently no sign of Hameed getting a game?

I don't understand why they're not blooding Hameed in this game. What are they going to learn by picking Ballance again other than the fact that he's out of form?

I presume that Batty is being rested ahead of India, they'll need him there given that Rashid will likely get carted everywhere (if they pick him)
