Shami tries to go big, but goes home.

Morkel around the wicket to fellow quick, Ishant.

Ishant just wore one very bravely.

Apparently Ishant has been practising for this very scenario. Holding is seriously impressed with that dedication.

I'm not sure I'd want my quick bowler channelling Brian Close like that.

But at least Ishant will be able to look Pujara in the eye.

Morkel over the wicket to Ishant now.

I don't like India much but I was kind of hoping they'd win one or more of these Tests, just to break the dreary monotony of the home team winning every fucking Test and series everywhere.

                And there's the ninth.

Here's South Africa's home Test match results, from the home series vs England to the one in progress.

India really are flaky as fuck sometimes. I can see England managing a papering-over-cracks unconvincing convincing win over them this summer.

                    Indeed.

Rabada just bowled the fastest off break I've ever seen, and on day one. Measured as 50cm deviation, chunk comes out of the pitch. Pujara nods sagely.

Bumrah is so flaky as a batsman, I think Kumar just ran a bye to the wicketkeeper so he kept the strike.

I think he did anyway. TV cut off to an advert.

It paid off. Nice slog over the top for four.

Kumar - who I think is excellent to watch as a bowler – has just got Markram. This isn't going to get to a fourth day is it?

Dean Elgar gone! Rabada in as night watchman.

Elgar survived to the end of the day.

He got himself to the non-strikers end for the last few balls. The commentators reckoned they've never seen a batsman less interested in running a single.

My bad. But he's gone now.

Rabada's doing a fine job here, getting some runs and receiving the new ball.

He's gone, but that was a very useful knock.

94/4, still quite well balanced if Amla/Faf can be removed soon.

Edit - meant Faf, ABD has gone already.
