    Hot Ice: NHL 15/16

    Disappointing finals match-up.

      Completely disagree.

For me, these are two of the best teams in the league to watch as a neutral, and two of the better US arena experiences.

      Ottawa-Anaheim would have been painful.

I do feel for Anderson though. Playing for a team that basically depends on you saving 98% of shots on you he made it through a crazy barrage over seven games and *so* nearly managed to (somehow) get them over the line.

                NYET!!!!

Video evidence wipes Subban's name off the list.

There really should be a statue of limitations on an offsides call.

Now the Pens have a 2-man advantage....

                  ... :45 seconds left....

                  .... GOAL after a non-call.

                  1-0 Pencils.

                      They're not getting past it.

They just scored a perfect wrister into their own net.

                      3-0 Pittsburgh.

Pens with 0 (zero) shots on goal in the second, but still lead 3-1

Their first shot in 37 minutes, puts the Pennies up 4-3 after a great comeback by the Preds.

Preds hit the post twice, before Jake Guetntzel's wrister goes upper deck.

Turned out to be a pretty good game.

                            Empty netter, 5-3.

Both teams have to feel good coming out of this. Preds still need a split and proved they can score and come back from a massive hole, Pens survived the massive comeback.

Is Salomäki getting much / any time on the ice? We haven't heard much about him since he left us some seasons back. I'll be rooting for the Predators thanks to the local connections. Rinne's also from near here.

8 minutes a game in the playoffs, which isn't bad for a player who only played five matches for the big club during the regular season.

The league needs to get rid of these offsides reviews. The Pens scored three goals in less time than it took for Toronto to somehow overrule Subban's opener.

Once a pass is made, it shouldn't be reviewable. If it's a pass from the neutral zone or defensive zone that leads to a breakaway, fine, that makes a smidgen of sense. But once a pass is made, much less 4 or 5 passes....especially after the Penguins touched it....it's absolutely idiotic. Beyond idiotic. In many ways it ruined a great game, with that much at stake and that many emotions running.

Well, at least we have a goal that will be included on Stanley Cup highlight packages for the next 2 centuries.

                                    Damn, Aberg. Too damn gorgeous.

                                    1-nil Preds.

                                      4-one Pens.

Riine becomes swiss cheese. 3 goals in 2+ minutes, 2 goals in :18 seconds at the beginning of the 3rd. Bullshit goal to tie it in the 1st.

Nashville needs...has...to win both at home.

PK "guarantees" a win in Game 3, but if Rinne doesn't get his mojo back, this is going to be over quickly.

I fell asleep at 1-0 at the end of the first, then when I turned it on I saw a dark arena and the NBC Sports guys were saying "would you consider a goalie change for tomorrow?," and Mike Milburn replied "No. Not on your life."

My heart sank, realizing Nashville must have got so smashed and humiliated, and they were going to stick with Riine as a way to thank him for a good playoffs to that point. Then they showed the party outside.

I must have missed some partty.

I'm often critical of US sports fans and what passes for noise and atmosphere, but that Nashville crowd was seriously, seriously, loud.
