It's been looking dodgy for Dhoni for a while, given his blatant lying about Gurunath Meiyappan. But it's terrifying if he does get done for corruption, given that he's massively wealthy and with every prospect of getting more so thus was presumably doing it out of fear rather than greed - unlike the players who have been previously caught in the IPL.

Alternatively, he may have noticed that the IPL is thoroughly corrupt at management level, and decided that it made little difference if the corruption went a bit lower.

Terrible shots for sure, and Raina's in particular looks like it was a catching practice drill. But if you were trying to limit the score to sub 140, wouldn't you hang around for a bit? Raina was out second ball, Dhoni third. Instead it let Bravo come in and push it up to 141.

The IPL teams have almost uniformly awful names, that also seem to harken to the dreams of monarchy.

            Chennai Super Kings

Crikey. If Dhoni is found to be as bent as a nine bob note, it will have similar ramifications to those when Hansie Cronje was found out, in that it will horrify an entire nation.

If he's taken in, I'll be looking to see if Bumble makes mention of it on Twitter, which if he does will bring about the death of the internet.

                  Hearing deferred.

And the BCCI moves to keep the "sealed envelope" secret.

                  What a shock.

If Vincent is lying, he's going to be in even more trouble than he is already. His only hope for some kind of clemency is to tell them what he knows, and do so accurately.

Modi may not be listening to his lawyers any more.

Exiled BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) chief N Srinivasan is Lalit Modi's favourite punching bag, but the former IPL commissioner trained his guns at a new target today.

Modi sent out a flurry of tweets calling ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) chief Giles Clarke a 'crook', 'fixer' and 'hand in glove' with Srinivasan.

Modi said that his 'little birds' told him that an England Women's cricket match was under the ACSU's suspicion, but the investigation was stopped at the behest of Clarke.

He also said that while Srinivasan had already 'sunk', it won't be too long before the truth came out about Clarke.

He sent out a challenge to ICC CEO Dave Richardson and Clarke to respond to his threats.

Cairns still leading the news bulletins in NZ (well, it's a quiet place) and churning out the quotes.

[Lou Vincent] "has betrayed the friendship I offered him and now seeks to portray himself as a whistleblower. He is nothing of the sort. The truth is he has been caught cheating and seeks to mitigate his sins by blaming others.

The allegations he and his ex-wife make against me are despicable lies."

                                          ...

"I find this situation truly absurd, bizarre and scary ... Over the last few years I have felt the influence of nameless, faceless people casting aspersions about me throughout the world of cricket and perhaps beyond ... There are dark forces at play."

And so on, and so on.

Meanwhile NZ tour the West Indies, and get one-hundredth of the coverage.

This is the catch-all cricket corruption thread, right?

Ashraful banned for eight years, Navid Arif for life.

Arif's departure from the cricketing world makes no great waves, but Ashraful's does.
