    ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Still three months away but we now have a format and draw:

Hosts UAE and Oman so perhaps we should boycott it anyway? However, my interest is mainly whether West Indies can finish Top 2 in a group that has England and Australia in it, and of course there's a rare India v Pakistan meeting.

All this is still subject to COVID, of course, but one thought seems to be that this will follow the IPL so a lot of the players will already be in the area, but missing their families and not really wanting to be there I'd imagine.

I got a bit confused when reading the groups first and thought Bangladesh had got a very easy draw. I mean, they still have but it's to qualify for the main competition.

I was surprised that SL are down to 9 in the ODI and T20 rankings, as I can't recall them ever being that low (even in the 80s).

I may have asked (and had it answered) before but why are there two consecutive T20 World Cups in two years. It was the plan pre-covid too, I believe.

This year's event replaced the Champions Trophy, which was due to be held in 2021 but scrapped.

              Ah, thanks.

Fucking nonsensical on so many levels but good to know the justification.

Bangladesh need around 8 an over but need to keep wickets intact.

Graves, who had something like 50 runs total before this match got Scotland a decent total from what looked a lost position and now they are taking wickets.

The Bengali diaspora in Oman is significant, as the attendance (and Oman's team). demonstrates.

Bangladesh 80-4 off 14, chasing 140. Game on

Oman has the 4th highest Bengali diaspora population (213,000) according to this:

                                https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/10790

And it's clear 4th, because the 5th, Italy, is 93,000.

And when you consider that Oman has 4 million people . . .

I'm not sure about teams having warm up games while, in theory, the competition has already started.

Curtis Campher becomes only the third T20 bowler to take four wickets from four balls.
