NFL 2021 - Great Chefs make Big Bucs while Forgetting the Titans

Obviously all aboard the pirate galley for Chefs v Bucs II, with the Julio Jones Titans poised to have the Monarch Organization on high alert.

Lameis Winston's arm will give the Saints the deepball threat missing in the last years of Breesus's career, and it should be interesting if Sean Payton can help his decision-making. At least one of those is guaranteed.

The Browns and Bills will be trying to stake their claim to taking out the Chiefs. All will have to contend with the rising Fins and Titans and whatever the rest of the AFC North cooks up.

The Bengals have gotten Joe Burrow his protection and weapons, the Cowboys have gone all-in with Dak (who will hope his season goes like Mississippi State's baseball team's - winning their first college world series that he was at for all of the final games,) and the Niners will look to bounce back with their strong draft.

NY Jets offensive assistant coach Greg Knapp dies a couple of days after getting hit by a car whilst cycling, having been in a coma since the accident. Rather puts things in perspective.

Not quite the NFL but Robert Kraft manages to insert himself into the story of the women's football championship. The Boston Renegades won their third consecutive title yesterday over the oldest team in continuous operation, the Minnesota Vixen. The final was a closer contest than it had been in recent years: Minnesota's Grace Lee Cooper ran for 192 yards in defeat! The Vixen have had a good all-round squad for a few seasons now but have been eliminated by teams with an outstanding quarterback; this year is no exception, Boston's Allison Cahill has the cool demeanour and exemplary timing of a Joe Montana.

From social media it's evident that NFL players and organisations are now keeping an eye on the Women's Football Alliance, presumably with a view to there being one day a WNFL or similar. i would imagine that this is being encouraged by the handful of ex-players from the WFA who are now coaching in men's football, such as Katie Sowers at Kansas City (one of the QBs who helped eliminate Minnesota in the past).

Both teams in yesterday's final featured trans athletes, yet the world did not end.

The new rules on allowed numbers is taking me a while to get used to, I keep thinking that there are a load of QBs and Kickers on the field with all the single digits on display.

Vikes hit 53-yarder to send Vikes-Bungles to OT. 24-24.

Buffalo gets their FG to try the onside kick. Scary to think if the Steelers ended up with JJ Watt.
Bills had a chance at the onside, but Pitt wins.

Jets coming back against the Panthers, but miss the 2-pointer to make it a 3 pointer instead of 5.
They'll have an onside in a few.

Jared GOOF leading the Lions to a bit of an insane 4th. Down 41-17, they've made it a 1 possession game at 41-33 after getting an onside kick.

I love that the league moved the afternoon start to 25 minutes after the hour instead of 5 minutes after the hour, thus not missing crazy endings which are popping up all over.

Jets and Lions miss their onsides, but have their timeouts. They'll have to make it 80 yards with no timeouts if they prevent a first down.

Forget Patriots v Falcons, if the Lions win this it will be the greatest comeback of all time.

Too bad. Was a lot of fun to see if the Lions could have done it.

Hilarious to see the Niners D telling their fans to make noise in Detroit.

Bengals-Vikes may very well be heading for the tie.

Bengals with fourth and a gnats chuff at half way. Throw it and complete it for 30 yards and Field Goal range.

At the OT buzzer, this time the Bungles get a FG....after missing the "ice the kicker" kick with Zimmer calling the TO and getting the 2nd shot.

Dem Saint playing in Jacksonville due to the hurricane. I couldn't figure out the outdoor stadium with Aints logo on the 50.

Aints having their way early, up 17-0

Cleveland with three scores in KC and a 22-10 lead

Comfortable win for the Squawks at Indy. This season might be this line-up's last hurrah though unless they make the Conference final. They're all getting a bit long in the tooth and it's been some time since they made much noise.

For someone who spent his first 60 years of fandom here being told that gambling was the single greatest existential threat to the integrity of sport, the sheer volume of gambling adverts (and in game "content"j on NFL broadcasts this weekend is nothing short of staggering.

#2 looked quite good. Finally the arm for the deep ball threat that Brees didn't have the last few years. Also was patient early on.

Looks like another batch of undrafted free agent receivers who will have people saying "where do Loomis and Payton find these guys year after year?"

The Saints secondary was quite amazing and absolutely stifled Discount Double Check over and over. The red zone interception coming off of the pressure they had on him all day, despite no sacks.

It's kind of amazing what they had to do with the hurricane. I guess they put in plans after 2006 and they have a travelling mini-city, with the home being Fort Worth in Texas, and Payton having all of the player's families and girlfriends and pets with them in a mini-town. They picked Florida to play in today because State Farm Rodgers absolutely has sucked there over the years. It will be hilarious after this is all said and done and they just picked cities to play in like fantasy owners pick starters based on if they're playing outdoors in Buffalo in December or they have a team of track stars who will be playing in a dome.

The Fins looked great, looked horrible, then looked good to win 17-16 in Foxsbozo. I love watching Tua.

The lagging cell phone call with Brady and Gronk is one of the funnier player commercials in quite some time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L6juLUkwuw

We don't see them up here of course. Local channels replace them with ads for Canadian Tire and TD Bank (an indication of one of the vast chasms between US and Canadian culture.)

It still is a threat, but they can’t stop it so they might as well bring it out into the open a bit and profit from it.

TD have a significant retail presence in New York as a result of acquisition (I happened to walk by a branch this afternoon), but don't do a lot of advertising on sport.

I agree, but think that the greater threat is the creation of a generation of problem gamblers
