Despite everything has 2020 actually been memorable after all?

We lost the Euros, the Open, and the Olympics. But since things have resumed, we've had a Tour de France conclusion like no other and a similarly knife-edge finish to the Giro. Ronnie O'Sullivan winning a sixth world title. Finals in the English and European Rugby that were memorable as tight games if not classics. Some extraordinary games to finish off the UEFA Champions League and some even more extraordinary games to start the most open Premier League season in decades. Lakers and Dodgers ending long trophy droughts.

No fans of course but some of those stories would have made 2020 pretty vintage otherwise, wouldn't they?

The Stanley Cup was mostly a success for the league and the game in general.

The RL Challenge Cup final was one of the best in recent years, at the most closely matched for some time (first single point winning margin since 2005).

Super League has been a mess though, impacted by Covid-related cancellations and the withdrawal of Toronto. If it ends in a grand final with two teams largely being able to play their first choice then fair enough, but it could easily end up with Covid suddenly hitting one team in the build up and then it'll be an asterisk job.
