MLB stopping spring training for two weeks and will re-evaluate then. This pushes opening day back to April. It's the right choice, but I feel bad for players who have been ramping up and now will need to stop and then re-start (esp. pitchers). I was getting close to making my predictions for the year but will wait. Realistically, it's hard to pick against the Dodgers, Astros, Yankees, and Rays. But the NL East, NL Central, and AL Central are harder to predict.

2021 was either going to be a break or the games being moved to somewhere else in Europe (probably Germany from what I've heard), I hope they can just do the Cubs-Cardinals series then.

I can't remember if I saw this headline on the NY Times site or the Washington Post but every sports network in the US has become ESPN Classic. The good news for MLB is they are finally taking a break from Bleacher Features (a rotation of about 7 different movies that have some kind of baseball theme that run all fu***** winter) and Ken Burns' Baseball, that has run so many times it has lost all charm. They are busting out some classic games that aired during the first winter when the network was created 10 years ago. The past 24 hours has been a Phillies-Cubs 23-22 game from 1979.

I didn't know about these classic links. Thanks for sharing, UA. I might start dipping into some classic WS games if COVID-19 halts the new season for too long. At this point, I'm keeping busy with some football matches I didn't have time to watch from the last month and some South American league playoffs on my DVR. But those will run out in a couple weeks.

Are there any of these games that are particularly recommended or essential viewing. I gave that Mets-Red Sox one a go the other evening, mainly for the 80s vibe but also becasue it was the first time I properly watched baseball (on TV in Bermuda).

The David Freese Game (Oct. 27, 2011, World Series Game 6): In one of the wildest games in World Series history, local kid David Freese ensures that he will be a hero in St. Louis forever.
MadBum puts ‘em on his back (Oct. 30, 2014, World Series Game 7): Madison Bumgarner finishes off one of the best postseason runs in baseball history with a heroic five-inning save to clinch the Giants’ third title in five years.
and, of course...
Gibson’s homer (Oct. 15, 1988, World Series Game 1): Though he could barely make it around the bases, Kirk Gibson takes Dennis Eckersley deep for one of baseball’s most iconic big flies.
It's too bad the Steve Finley grand slam game for Dodgers v. Giants from 2004 is available.

If you're a neutral, I think the David Freese game Inca mentions is pretty thrilling. Of course, I have to also echo the Dodgers-A's 1988 game.
I also think that Royals-Mets WS was pretty exciting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw85aXy2HRg
As was Game 7 Cubs-Cleveland, which UA will surely recommend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CaD...W&index=2&t=0s
But if I was to basically go down a rabbit hole and binge watch MLB games, I think I would watch what I could find from Red Sox-Angles 1986 and Astros-Mets 1986 and the follow with the WS from 1986. I think from a neutral perspective (although I was quite fond of that Mets team), it's hard to find a more exciting totality of exciting games.
Some of the league series games are here but I assume all are on Youtube:

I've been watching some of the MLB Network's 20 greatest games (well, some of the games and then some parts of the games I do watch). They've done a good job with the programming by making a day of the games: usually some kind of doc about the team, the game itself, and then their own specials that are re-airing from a few years back. Those specials have players and/or managers in studio and they talk about the game as show highlights. One thing that struck me is how often these series swing because of errors or mistakes on the base path. The Mets-Astros game 6 included Daryl Strawberry, Jesse Orosco, and Bob Knepper. Strawberry noted after re-watching the game that if the Astros did not make so many baserunning mistakes that they would have won the game easily. Then the Tigers-Twins playoff game featured the same mistakes: not tagging up, throwing to the wrong base, etc. All things that pros should know. But the games really highlight that the elite players rise to the pressure.
None of this is as good as watching live baseball but it's better than watching more Bleacher Features and Burns' Baseball over and over again.

The Freese game is airing on MLB Network right now. I can't say I know the details of that Rangers team but I have to question why Washington would have kept Cruz in the outfield in the bottom of the 9th. That ball would have been caught by any halfway decent MLB-caliber outfielder. I know the same thing is going to happen to the Yankees at some point with Stanton (if he's ever healthy again). He will lose a series, which is only OK for me if that's against the Dodgers.

Eleven Sports Taiwan are streaming Rakuten Monkeys matches with English commentary live and on-demand on their Twitter account.
The standard is decent.
One shouldn't need to have Twitter installed to open it in a browser
