Tennis year end 2020 ranking predictathon

OK, there seem to be fewer entries to this each year (six entries only in 2019 I think) but I'm going to start a thread anyway. Formal scoring system unnecessary, As always, pick your top 4, in order, for each of the ATP and WTA. Entries in ideally by close on 5 Jan, as the seasons appear to begin on Monday 6th.

Pretty similar predictions so far - after 5 entries, only 6 men (precisely the current top 6!) have been named, and only 6 women (6 of the current top 10). Usually one or more of us takes a punt on an outsider.

You can't expect Janik just to throw some names in the air. He'll be working through exactly how each and every tournament will play out during 2020. He's only up to Monte Carlo.

Bumping this as a reminder to myself to "mark" the predictions when I have a moment. Far too tired right now. Haven't even looked through the predictions on the WTA side. Quick observation on the ATP side is that Sporting was the only one who got all 4 of the final top 4 (and almost in the right order). Most of us overestimated Tsitsipas. And of course to note that we have had anything other than a "full" or "normal" tennis year - many current ranking points actually relate to 2010 performances.

The women's year has been particularly disrupted in terms of withdrawals.

OK, here are the results, using a very simple scoring system of (negative) points equal to the cumulative difference in the final ranking positions of each named player from the position (1st, 2nd etc. as the case may be) that you predicted for your named players.

Congrats to Sporting, who was the clear winner on both the WTA and ATP sides.

The lowest year end rankings achieved by any player for whom any of us predicted a top 4 finish were Bencic (12th) and Serena Williams (11th). We didn't tip anyone on the men's side who ended outside the top 10, indeed apart from a lone tip of Berrettini by Kevin, none of us tipped any man who ended outside the top 7.

Thanks all for taking part. I won't run any similar predictathon for 2021 as it gets a bit silly with all the tournament cancellations and COVID-related absences.
