There's a lot of case law on that.

Without having reviewed the Michigan precedents, I don't think Sparty is sweating that.

Nor am I sure that they have to prove it. He has essentially admitted to breaching the contractual requirement "to conduct himself professionally and ethically at all times".

His lawyers will try to show, somehow, that it was consensual and therefore OK.

This will be a bigger blowout than last year’s Oregon-Colorado game.

Football is actually unwatchable. It’s mostly commercials. I forget that sometimes until I actually try to watch a game.

                    I enjoyed that ass-kicking however.

First time CBS had covered a game here since the 1990 Pitt game.

Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson seem ancient.

Which is very on brand for CBS

Has anyone ever calculated how much screen time is football, and how much commercials? Are there any restrictions or limits?

There was a Wall Street Journal analysis of NFL games a few years ago that concluded that there were 11 to 12 minutes of active play on average (out of 60 minutes of "clock time" and 3.5 hours or so "running time")

                            Exactly.

Ryan Day lost his mind about Lou Holtz talking trash about Ohio State.

I wasn’t sure Lou Holtz was still alive.

It seems to be getting worse.

But I’ve told my friends who complain that the TV battle is lost. We just have to hope they don’t put ads on the field or the uniforms. As it is, the whole thing is an ad for the institutions. That’s enough.

If you watch the clips of his appearance, that question is open

The broadcasters have manipulated the changes in the running time rules so as to further increase the number of adverts.

Which is understandable from a purely capitalist perspective, given the Pharonic amounts they are paying for rights and the erosion of cable carriage fees, but nonetheless maddening.

Reportedly, the new YouTube TV NFL package lets you pick four games to watch simultaneously.

The package is a few hundred bucks a season, but I can see the appeal of that for the hardcore.

Now that I have Hulu Live, I enjoy flipping between NFL games and the highlights show on NFLN.

But actually sitting through a game is maddening and not worth it unless I deeply care about the outcome.

It’s so tedious, I can see the appeal of basketball. The games are only about two hours. But still, a lot of dead time. I suppose the lack of ad breaks is one of the reasons why soccer is growing in the US.

But I did learn that the Blair County Convention center has a dinosaur exhibit on right now and that I can score a touchdown of savings at Harper’s downtown State College and something about Altoona’s most trusted name in plumbing. So I’ve got that going for me.

This is why I broke down and paid USD 85 for Red Zone.

It was an easy decision once ursus minor became interested

What’s his play here? Does he think he can show in court that it was consensual?

I’m not sure why MSU would have to pay his whole remaining contract. Surely, there’s a buyout number. Or maybe that is the buyout number.
Attorneys for suspended football coach Mel Tucker say Michigan State University adopted the allegations against him "without any meaningful review."

His play is to draw it out as long as possible so as to maximise the settlenent

Do lawyers actually say that out loud in privileged meetings? I’ve always wondered.

Is “drawing things out to maximize the settlement” something one can learn in law school?

If this doesn't inspire the Lobos for NEXT year's Rio Grande rivalry classic.

The rivalry is so bitter because the stakes are so low.

One wouldn't be so blunt about it, but one would definitely discuss the broad strategy.

All of this is learned in practice. Law School doesn't really prepare one to be a lawyer
