The Australian Open was played on grass until 1987.
The US Open was played on grass until 1974, then clay for three years, before finally switching to hard courts in 1978.

      Really? Never knew that.

Maybe it is a good idea: to rotate the surfaces sometimes.

I had to abandon this for the cricket tie-break. Like London buses ...

Well there we go. Believe it or not, with two overs to go in the cricket, I predicted the super-over, as well. Today just seemed a day destined for extraordinary and unprecedented drama.

Was the Tennis being shown on delay in NZ? Because I watched this to the end and still changed channel well in time for the start of the cricket breaker.

I think it was live. But I was flicking between the 2 until about 46-47 overs, then stuck with the cricket. By then I was in no state to think about anything else at all.

On reflection, was either player at anything like their best today? On the other hand, does it matter when we had such a dramatic and tense final hour?

Yeah, I think both were something like their best. Somewhere between 90-95%. It's not as well as either can play, but it was pretty good and at a higher level than anything else in the Men's tournament baring the Federer-Nadal Semi (which was the best match in terms of quality).

Apparently Federer made 14 more points than Djokovic

Shame, shame, shame, you fucking bastard rule changers. Yeah, I know Djok could win anyway but it would be fair then.

Wimbledon is most prestigious tournament at least if you're from ex-USSR - there were not much tennis at TV and green grass, all white dresses, serve and volley, it's what tennis should be not backline running to eternity, save it for RG.

Is Halep back in Romania yet? I'd really like to see some images of her homecoming.

He has to convert that to form in tie-breaks; if he'd won a greater proportion of them v Nadal and Novak over the years then he'd be GOAT for certain.
