This has the potential to be the best thread ever.

I can't think of any right now, though of course Zafar Ansari would have fitted in here.

Mithali Raj dealing with the interviewer who asked her who was her favourite male cricketer.

Mithali Raj reading poetry before going into bat gets some wild proto-woke bonus points. Plus she is one of the best floppy hat wearers in cricket. But I digress.

Joe Root in his comments to Shannon Gabriel recently, of course. I've never been a big fan but that was exceptionally fucking cool for a sportsman.

I wouldn't cite Viv Richards as competely 'woke' but he's not bad on general post-colonial relations between Britain and the Caribbean. As are a lot of his generation of West Indies players, unsurprisingly. Sarah Taylor's mental health advocacy also worth a shout, perhaps, even if it is rooted in her own troubles.

Clive Lloyd particularly. Though not sure whether it was just his being the captain that meant I heard his view more.

Derek Pringle. He wore an earring, for Christ's sake

Tom Cartwright was of course an outspoken Socialist.

BTW, I'm not having Derek Pringle, he got off with a Dutch girl I had been pursuing for months when England lost to Oranje back in the 80's.

(I've told the story of the Dutch shenanigans around that game many times, so I won't go over it again.)
