France playing some beautiful stuff, 14-3 up already. Argentina look like their development is going backwards, basic handling errors all over the place. If it's the humidity and a greasy ball it isn't hampering the French.

The Pumas breathe fresh life into the game.

Game on, only one score in it now!

Fiji are exactly the type of team to fuck up Wales's chances. If we don't keep it VERY tight, we could be in for a shock.

Argentina have put a stop to all that Harlem Globetrotters stuff they faced in the first half with some ugly set piece stuff.

Maybe both Frances have turned up today.

A few minutes ago a Puma breakaway attack was repelled after three separate penalty offences by France were given but advantage played by the ref. He eventually blew and the penalty was taken and scored. But surely there was a case for a yellow card?

Corking match, very disappointed for Argentina after that comeback.

Could have done without ITV and R5's constant implication that both sides had to win because they would see England as unbeatable.

Yeah I got pissed off with that. England are far from safe against either of these two.

Next up should be a belter. South Africa always seem to peak in World Cup years.

                          Possibly later in the tournament...

The Sprinboks executed The Press perfectly for twenty minutes making the All Blacks look ordinary, then two mistakes and 17-3.

Is the wind blowing really strong across Japan or something? All today's games have seen a massively improved performance second half from the side that was losing first half!

I was actually seriously wondering if there was a strong wind as there's been some surprisingly missed kicks.

SA have done well in the first half of both halves here but fallen short, good game though and a fantastic morning's rugby.

The texture (which I presume is a gripper strip) and crew neck on the All Blacks shirt give it the look of a knitted jumper close up.

It has indeed been a great morning of rugby. Now on to the footie. Not sure much else is going to happen today!

It's the Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff and T20 Finals day too. Almost annoyed to be getting on a plane.

An entertaining start, all told. But I wouldn't mind a 12-9 kickfest, as God doesn't seem to get any credit for penalties or drop goals.

Apparently, we have to buy NBC Gold to watch matches, so fuck that.

There are a few on NBCSN, but otherwise it is USD 29.99 per match or USD 199.99 for the entire tournament, which is outrageous.

It appears that the replays are not available on the regular NBCSN app. That requires Gold. Given that the matches are on in the middle of the night ET, putting a few them on the regular network isn't worth much if the replays aren't.

This is not good for the development of rugby in the US.

They have posted extended (15 minute plus) highlights on YouTube, but your point is very well taken

Argentina look like they have an entirely homegrown squad but are they the only such squad at a World Cup again?

                                                  How are you defining "homegrown"?

It is an especially fraught concept in rugby.

There's something like 26 games on NBCSN, including all of the US matches.
