Someone on the cricket highlights has just made a fair bit of the Dutch getting bowled out before the end of their overs. Peter West, as I recall, a pleasant presenter, used to get a bit saturnine when county sides did that. He used to say they hadn't used up their "allotment".

This is really serious stuff. Even if you'd hit every other ball for 6, it seems you deserved to lose the match.

What are the "Cardinal Rules" in other sports?
