I know there are a few secret fans on here, perhaps more of the old school action than the modern sport, but there are interesting things happening in the top flight of British Speedway right now. There are rumours coming out of the sport's AGM that reigning champions Coventry and fellow "big club" Peterborough walked out of discussions about the 2011 season, leaving the league with just 7 members. As the TV deal with Sky stipulates a minimum 8 clubs, it's been speculated that the remaining 7 clubs will back an 8th, probably at the disused Oxford track.
This is quite remarkable and would be a horrible mess, particularly as Coventry hold the contracts of 3 of the top 5 British riders, and are one of only two tracks that actually makes money.
The second division continues on neatly with 14 clubs, including a new one at Leicester.
