    Basketball question

The Welsh team are taking on Team USA Select on September 15th. Who are they? Are they the best of the college players or something?

    Basketball question

No clue. Here's something I found on FIBA Europe's website. It seems that their best player, Alan Duppa, plays for the Glyndwr Nets, and there are Welsh basketball teams.

      Basketball question

I think that Bored was asking about the Americans.

They appear to be an assemblage of former college players looking to make it in Europe.

          Basketball question

Wales has a rich history of castles, Arthurian legends, dragons, coal mines, intrepid sailors, etc, and it's own language, and the name they came up with is Nets, the least interesting franchise in all of American professional sports?

                Basketball question

I suppose this is as good as place as any to include FIBA World Championship stuff...

Marca gives the FIBA Worlds their World Cup calendar treatment.

                  Basketball question

As for confident shooting in the clutch, Serbia's game-winning basket against Spain last night takes some beating. He was certaily nowhere near the hoop.

                    Basketball question

He was far out, but he was also straight on and didn't have a hand in his face. You have to expect a Yugoslav shooting guard to make that shot; it's what they are trained to do more than anything else.

Slovenia get trounced by the home team, but still a good run for such a small country. Turkey could easily make the final here.

                      Basketball question

Wow, that was truly terrible defense. If you watch the play leading up to the shot (3:30 in), you see that the Spain player initially guarding Teodosic is kind of all over the place, but he's playing really good defense, annoying Teodosic and not letting him get comfortable. Then Serbia sent their center up and Spain switched defenders and now Jorge Garbajosa is "covering" Teodosic, standing about 5 feet off of him. The only justification for that I can imagine is that Teodosic was about 28 feet out and they probably weren't expecting a shot that far out. But still, you have to be on your man closer than that.

                        Basketball question

Not a basketball fan at all but with the World Championships here got interested, some game tonight and another miracle in Istanbul, sadly the gun shots around ring out to signal the Turkish win though. Wonderful game and bring on the USA.
