No Brandi Carlile thread yet?

Oh, I've been bigging up Brandi Carlile for a long time. The debut album was very good, but the follow-up, The Story, was one of my albums of 2007. That Joplinesque roar as the title track reaches its climax is brilliant.

I would not be surprised if my enjoyment of her music is going to be undermined by a Grammy nomination or two.

And yet, it is a pity that her name doesn't scream "Credibility!". A bit like Mindy Smith, whose music one might be reluctant to sample on account of her name.

I dunno about "credibility" (I mean, who cares?), but the word "Joplinesque" puts me right off. Unless you mean Scott.

One note of Joplinesqueism should not let you be put off, Wyatt. I don't like Janis Joplin much either. But surely even you and I can stomach 30 seconds of Janis if forced to do so.
