    Bob Crewe RIP

Passed away recently. Been suffering from Alzheimer's for a while. He wrote, or co-wrote, some of the best pop songs ever.

        He was a great lyricist.

Less known than all the Four Seasons/Frankie Valli hits was his earlier authorship of "Daddy Cool", initially a b-side for The Diamonds on the single "Silhouettes", later a Herman's Hermits hit, also co-written by Crewe. People of a certain age will know "Daddy Cool" in the 1977 version by Darts.

And he wrote the lyrics for "Lady Marmalade".
