Working my way through Mogwai's albums

Top 3? Got to be Young Team, CODY, Happy Songs for Happy People, hasn't it?

Most underrated - Rock Action (beautiful)
    Most overrated - Rave Tapes

I don't think you call call Rave Tapes overrated when it is simply the newest.

I probably listen to EP+6 and Zidane more than any others.

Les Revenants for me, followed by Young Team.

Not arsed about the rest. A little Mogwai goes a long way.

Fair enough, but it's had rave reviews (sorry) and I don't love it.

              (Thank you, Damon Albarn?)

Fine band to whom I should listen far more. Hunted By a Freak is one of the loveliest pieces of music of, like, ever.

4 Satin, Ten Rapid, and Young Team are the essential releases for me.

EP and CODY have moments of brilliance (e.g. Ex Cowboy), but to me it's always seemed like they were struggling to keep finding ways to re-interpret Spiderland. Like they'd said all they had to say.

Which makes the change of direction on Rock Action understandable, but they lost me at that point. If memory serves correctly it was around this time that vocals started to appear regularly.

I've only seen them once live, around the time of the Happpy Songs... album. They looked bored. I was bored. People I know who love the band and had seen them loads of times said that tour was their worst by some margin.

Maybe I should give the later albums a go and see if time has changed my perspective.
