Musicians identifiable by their surnames …

… and often referred to as such.

Fripp and Eno spring to mind. And Bowie, come to think of it. Can't think of any others at the moment.

Is that Dave D, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich?

Not really surnames though, are they?

I always say 'Feck off' or 'Drink' when I see a picture like that of Wagner.

They all looked so serious, didn't they. Except Sibelius who looks like a decent laugh.

Quite a few - Sibelius included - look like they'd have made decent Bond villains too.

That's why he wanted people to call him "the Mack" instead.

It's because they all had bad teeth. Didn't want to show off a bunch of rotting stumps.

Frampton, he of the coming alive.

Never heard him called just Frampton, always Peter Frampton.

People of here (most of whom had never heard of him before 'that 'album) always referred to him as Frampton.

With the exceptions of Duffy, Goldfrapp and Roachford, I don't remember any of the above referring to themselves by their surnames.
