Some typically marvellous choreography from Freddie and the boys there.

Co-ordinated pop dancing has certainly moved on since those days.

        ...I'm not going?

Blimey, "the Freddie" is quite something.

It was an improvement on the Shadow-walk... maybe

Hey, don't mess with the Shadows! Although, on account of my dad being a fan, I can confirm that it is very difficult to do the walk justice while strapped into the back of a Volvo estate.

I remember seeing Freddie and the Dreamers* in panto in Wolverhampton in the early '80s. Even in that context his moves were a bit startling.

              * - not necessarily the Dreamers, may just have been Dreamer-blokes.

My best mate's dad got chatting to him by chance in some bar in Spain about ten years ago. He introduced himself as "Freddie Garrity - Freddie and the Dreamers!" That's showbiz.

Did he, well, move about while introducing himself? I hope so - visualising it that way is making me laugh.

Yes, most things involving Mr Garrity make for a smile-inducing image - especially knowing how my mate's dad would've been bursting not to laugh.

Sadly both he and Freddie G are continuing the dance elsewhere by now - so we'll never know the finer points.

A mate used to use the phrase "Going absolutely Garrity" about anyone jumping and waving about; usually when over excited.

Doesn't the expression 'garrity' (sp?) also mean 'ugly' up in some parts of that thar north? Or have I got that hopelessly wrong?
