Carly Simon "didn't have time" for the pain, but never for a minute did that convince me that it wasn't real. Probably cramps.

And how can you bring up Sabbath and not mention paranoid schizophrenia?

...who also wondered if they were going insane. By which they meant Ozzy, by which they meant yeah.

She really was in the wars - I seem to remember for Carly, your love hurt so much as well. Why?

                Belatedly:

An old work colleague of mine thought that 'St Elmo's Fire' (John Parr, 1986) sounded like some kind of illness, which kind of amused me. I dared him to put in on his sick-leave form, but he bottled it.

On the other hand, wasn't it Dire Straits who prattled on about 'Industrial Disease'? I've often wondered what that entailed. Internal smelting, perhaps.

Iron Maiden suffered terrible sleeping problems if the symptoms described in Still Life and Infinite Dreams are anything to go by.

Piece Of My Heart is talking about stem cell therapy, right?

Johnny Cash describes a terrible skin rash in I Got Stripes.

As is St Vitus's Dance. Which sounds like the best fun one could have while laid up.

Chris Difford also refers to a 'nasty little rash' of a different kind in Squeeze's 'Cool for Cats'.

(As for The Flaming Lips - I really don't want to go there...)
