Some of you may enjoy this. A friend described it as "simple but incredibly good, ticks all boxes in terms of post punky repetition music that we all like."

The British jazz scene is in a particularly healthy state at the moment, with a core group of hugely talented young musicians (many centred around Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label) playing and recording both in their own bands and with each other. Some of their 2019 releases include....

        Nerija - Blume http://nerijamusic.bandcamp.com/
        Yazz Ahmed - Polyhymnia http://yazzahmed.bandcamp.com/
        SEED Ensemble - Driftglass http://seedensemble.bandcamp.com/album/driftglass
Ishmael Ensemble - A State Of Flow http://ishmaelensemble.bandcamp.com/...-state-of-flow
Joe Armon-Jones - Turn To Clear View http://joearmon-jones.bandcamp.com/a...-to-clear-view
        Kokoroko - Kokoroko http://kokoroko.bandcamp.com/album/kokoroko
        Kinkajous - Hidden Lines http://knkjs.bandcamp.com/
        Rosie Turton - Rosie's 5ive http://rosieturton.bandcamp.com/album/rosies-5ive
Sarah Tandy - Infection In The Sentence http://sarahtandy.bandcamp.com/album...n-the-sentence
        Theon Cross - Fyah http://theoncross.bandcamp.com/album/fyah

So has anyone else besides me just found out that former snooker world champion Steve Davis is a member of experimental electronic trio Utopia Strong? And that they're very good? I thought it was a piss-take at first, but it's absolutely not. Bizarre.

Best Canadian track I've heard this year (too late to put on the Christmas CD unfortunately.)

            Peanut Butter by Ice Cream

Davis's taste for the avante - garde is quite well known. French band Magma being a particular favourite.

No longer new music for 2019, obvs, but I just took delivery of their debut album today and it is a singular fucking joy from start to finish. Do You Believe In Two Gods? being the standout for me so far, but this will demand repeat listening to get the most out of it.

                How interesting, etc.

Plus it's very "proggy", so it scratches that particular itch for me.

I'm seriously digging this album, too. It's my soundtrack for walking from the train to my office in the morning.

The sample of Willie Mitchell's groovin' in Ibtihaj by Rhapsody is doing something weird to me. Good but it's triggering a real response

I'm listening to the playlist that Frankie Boyle has put together for Rob Delaney. It's got some really good stuff. I'm really liking The Guillotine by The Coup

One thing about sitting at home for 6 months is that I've had time to poke around on youtube (generally when I probably should have been making better use of my time), and actually listened to some new (to me) music for the first time for quite a while. Anyway, I'm just resurrecting this thread to say that I really like Band-Maid, this appearing to be their only mention on otf.
