    New Music For 2019

Might as well do it properly and start a new thread.

Cristina Quesada's cutie discopop tune Hero is here, and I can no longer figure out how to embed video.

Gideon played a new track from Bruxa Maria the other night. said it was called 'Purple'. Very noisy, hardcore, not the usual offering on this show.

Look online, and can find them doing the same track live in September. Where it is called Purple Aki.

Not sure why the change of name but there you go.
Aggressive and unpredictable, with an acerbic bite and giving more than a passing nod to 80s and 90s noise rock, and post hardcore. Bruxa Maria are Gill D

I saw 4-☆ reviews for the new Sharon van Etten and Deerhunter albums, so downloaded the three preview tracks for each one, listened five times, and deleted again. There are too many good reviews for nothing special.

The new Salif Keita album Un autre blanc is a fine work, though.

Lizzo's Juice is a super-infectious piece of pop r 'n' b with strong hints of A Night To Remember. Video is a hoot, too -- here.

One of last year's best tracks,Time Elastic by Laish, gets the remix treatment from Elis Fir. And it's even better.

New from Fat White Family, getting lots of airplay, is Feat. It's a bit more 'mature' than their 2016 work. I think it's magnificent.

Video nsfw, I am informed (I haven't tried it myself)

                  I love it, too.
Also love Neneh Cherry's Broken Politics, and Pete Williams' album H.O.L.L.A.N.D. from last year.

Angels of Sweat by Tamaryn. Very catchy.

Update after listening to whole album : Check out a track called 'Victim Complex' by Tamaryn. Eurythmics meets Depeche mode. Absolute banger.

Anemone are a lovely Montreal-based quintet releasing their first album today.

Sort of a dreamy / psychedelic / synth pop band. Maybe a bit Lush-like. Quite nice to listen to.

Some new songs I'm really enjoying:

                          "The Barrel", Aldous Harding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyZeJr5ppm8

                          "Paper Highways", Ladytron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lwv-t3fkzIE

And one from the back end of last year that I've only just heard:

                          "Bad Love", Stephen Steinbrink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5HdU9X1LBw

Two of Well Hung Heart have a more blue-sy side project called Beaux Gris Gris. With added drummer from The Hoax.

Latest single - "Heart Breaker" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHHiCO2KPGU

CHAI, a Japanese feminist punk/pop/dance band. Their album is so damn good and catchy.

Not bad that. And it reminded me to bang the Band Maid album on too.

It's a wonderful album. Her voice just has this yearning, haunting quality particularly on "Hands". Going to see her on Saturday night at Vicar Street.

I listened to the Orville Peck album "Pony" yesterday. It's a mixed bag, his voice sometimes gets a bit too Broadway-musical for me. But there are about 3 or 4 incredible tracks on the album. Reminiscent of The Gun Club and other 80s gothish rock, this is the song that stood out:

Emika has released a new version of Eternity (the best track on last year's outstanding album 'Falling in Love with Sadness'.)

Eternity (Earth Mix) includes an amazing change of pace at 1:17.

I'm a little bit in love with her. OK, a lot.

Been listening to a lot of music at the moment as I'm having to stay behind at work for a couple of hours each evening to mark A-Level and GCSE coursework.

Have recently discovered Yves Tumor and have been listening to his album "Safe in The Hands of Love" this week (came out in 2018). Very experimental, but also totally accessible.

                                              https://youtu.be/FU65VaNeLeM

(the first minute of the videos is quite intense noise, but the song kicks in after 1 minute and is far easier to listen to)

Listening now. It's like White Chalk by PJ Harvey meets electro. I like it. You might like the LP "More Faithful" by No Joy.
