        Gissa clue

Since Guy's obviously got it but is too high and mighty to offer one up of his own.

More a case of coming up with a clue.

(Now if only someone could write it on my behalf...)

Thanks, I got it, good (original) clue. Just to help you judge whether further clues are necessary.

I did think of going on to say how spooky it would be if someone now got it without any further clues…

should have had the dragonfly losing an unspecified number - n - of its fry.

                                        Nor I.

I'm assuming it's a hidden word/anagram/alternate letters type of thing, and can think of a vaguely appropriate four-letter word for "Scottish Defence", (and not "Scotland Defence"!), but that's about it.

Edit: Or more likely given "splits" it's a container?

                                            Probably not.

The "defence" part was key to the word I've got.
