Yeah, though that one would be too easy, I think.
What I have seen is the definition/inversion thing done the other way round, as in
Raising the stake is explosive in Sicily (4)
I'm less familiar with it your way round. I was also a bit thrown by "proves", which looked more significant than it turns out to be.
