Adhoc: my Dad and his two brothers were regulars. One brother was killed in Italy and then the old man finished off with an er, extended business trip to the 38th parallel.

He was in the security branch of the Foreign Office. Which involved both admin (advising on passport issue) and action (supervising the locally-hired bouncers if ever Johnny Local decided to get lairy).

He encourageed me to try for diplomacy, but apart from the obvious character failing I couldn't pass an exam at 90%.
