Drat, just realized that I didn't have to use the full name. Anyway, it's not a great clue but provided me with some pleasure in the name-calling.

How do you get the And part of the answer from It's clue?

'ending' applied to everything from Sedaka onwards, which I know isn't watertight, though if you're happy that it gave you _ _ _ R E W you might as well have the lot.

Duh. How did I miss that.

              (seems watertight to me)

There's certainly been previous on here (raises hand), so I'm not ruling it out.

Perhaps it will provoke protestation from Nef, if he still lurks on the thread.

Like Nef, I'm among the fuddy duddy sticklers here, though as rule-bending antics go, this is, I will confess, a clever one

                    So, anyway

I sometimes read this thread but am not clever enough in the field to take part. Still, I'm interested to know how the rules are being bent. Thanks.

The rule is that the solution to the previous clue must appear in the next clue. The solution to the previous clue was Peter Swan. I bent the rule by embedding this in Trumpeter Swan in my clue.

                                Shouldn't it be (6,8)? Unless it's plural ...

Yeh, that was a quandary...... singular made more sense for the first half ofthe clue, plural made more sense for the second half. Ultimately I like the idea of lacing up my adidas Sexual Predators
