...at least, not until after the season creation process.

Brilliant, thanks so much Gawpus – the super flying caretaker manager for hire. I can actually start the league as soon as tonight now (though I'll probably wait until the morning) and you'll be free to go again tomorrow if you like!

Edit: Right, you're in. Thank-you again – and you've chosen the more viable club for sure in Dynamo Spennyborough; the other, Ringstone Drains, are still decently strong but have an average age of about 63.

If you could do me a favour while you're there, will you at least make sure they've picked up their weekly sponsorship cash, and could you please set a decent default lineup and tactics (e.g. put a few youngsters in the first XI but set Automatic Subs on so they'll be replaced after half-time each match, ensuring as many players as possible get good minutes on the pitch) so they're in as decent a shape as possible to be left to their own devices afterward? Very much obliged to you sir.

There's a link to a recording of the stream on one of the scribbles, probably the J4G one. The zombie cull well be good. Also the plan to focus on retention and winning back old users makes sense.

No time scale was mentioned but that felt like we don't want to make promises we know we can't keep. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for sure as they seemed to be aware of the issues.

                    Ready. Aim. Fire!

Thanks ever so much Gawpus, you're a scholar and a gentleman. I might have been waiting for ages longer if it hadn't been for you, so I greatly appreciate your stepping in. If anyone else wants to join the Brythonnic party, they're now free again, as are another team whose AWOL manager I booted this morning.

My official Men's side is currently at the mid-point in the season in Master League Division 3d, and it is remarkably tight. The leaders of our section have 12 points, the bottom side have 8, the biggest positive goal difference is +4 and the worst negative is -3. One team, Taipas F.C., have a record of 3-0-4 9-12. This manages to be the (joint) most wins, the clear most defeats, the most goals scored and the most conceded, all at once! My own side (FK radnik Roystjina) sit fifth, level on points with sixth and just three behind the leaders. The new leaders that is, as we beat the previous table-toppers 3-0 today, which dropped them from top to third.

                          Viking South Utsira
                          Witches of Chiswick
The Cup provided a gentle introduction to the season for Invisible Ladies as they were drawn to face managerless Division 7:54 side EFC Old Girls.
The opening half of the first leg was a slow burned for The See-Throughs though, as they couldn’t fashion many openings despite seeing lots of the ball. Pebblethefish’s side also lost young striker Aileen Shuttlewood to a 10-day injury midway through this period. However things picked up after the break, Sandie Parks netting an opener on the hour then turning provider as she twice centred for Beáta Nádasdy to finish.
Invisible were quicker off the mark in the return at The San Seethrough, Chelsea Paul and Sofia Neves netting in the third and sixth minutes respectively. Paul would complete her hattrick with additional strikes after 21 and 46 minutes, whilst Dee Stoneley netted a brace on 49 and 72. The See Throughs finished on six for the game, which meant they fell one short of double figures on aggregate.
The reward for victory is two matches against Division 5:27 outfit SAMCRO, with the first leg being at The San Seethrough.

The only other OTF team competing at this stage was Menywod Maeshafn, who found themselves up against Ytrea of Division 7:55.
Ytrea were operating without a manager, but like Invisible Ladies Maeshafn found it fairly hard to break through, just having Nerea Etxarri’s 28th minute strike to speak of at the interval. IsThatcherDeadYet’s side got a helping hand they almost certainly didn’t need just past the hour, when the hosts’ Valentina Lüthi lost her rag and earned herself a straight red card. Lisha Boye soon took advantage as the youngish forward finally registered her first goal for the club after nearly a complete season in Wales. Having got one in the 67th minute, Boye would strike another late on (86), with Elodie van Hijde adding a goal from the spot in between (71). The only blemish on the day was the loss of defender Ana Raquel Sameiro to a nine-day knock.
The return was (even more of) a formality (than the opening leg), as goals came regularly. The main point of interest was Justine Bellamont getting her first strikes for the club on 18 and 58 minutes. Ada Westerberg also got a brace on 14 and 28 minutes, whilst defender Shelley Gibb (who wears the generally coveted no.10 shirt) netted just her 3rd goal in around 150 Maeshafn appearances when she struck with 68 on the clock.
Next up for Maeshafn will be Division 4o side Danis Ladies, the first leg being hosted in Wales.

Ansvarsfulla Divor (5:4)	vs	Dublin City Womens FC
                          Baywatch FC (6:60) vs	Drakaina
Great Horned Owls (7:5) vs	LNWR Locomotive
JK Heitukat (6:14) vs	Solent Sirens
                          Invisible Ladies vs	SAMCRO (5:27)
FBC Luja (6:29) vs	Sockford Emollient
Menywod Maeshafn vs	Danis Ladies (4o)
                          F.C U Mobitelco (5:31) vs	Csiki Girls
The Pretty Reckless (6:33)	vs	Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC
Club Ragazze (5:25) vs	Witches of Chiswick
Royal Ladies FC (6:34) vs	Coxy Ladies Wulpen
Round 2 draw detials for those with opening round byes are:-
A first leg trip to The Palace awaits Coxy Ladies Wulpen as they take on Royal Ladies FC, who are slumming it in Division 6:34.
A past and quite likely future league opponent is the pairing for Csiki Girls as they face F.C U Mobitelco of Division 5:31. Despite Mobitelco being the higher Division side, The Csiki’s are the seeds and so at home in leg two.
An OFFS for Drakaina fans as they take on Baywatch FC of Division 6:60.
Dublin City Womens FC are the seeds, and therefore play the second leg at home despite opponents Ansvarsfulla Divor operating one step higher in Division 5:4.
Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC have a potentially tricky match with The Pretty Reckless, though after last season there are two Divisions between the sides following The Sea Spirits promotion and Reckless dropping down to 6:33.
A familiar name awaits LNWR Locomotive as they will take on Great Horned Owls. The Winged Tigers are under active management, though how effective this is is arguable, seeing as they got relegated to Division 7:5 last season.
Sockford Emollient’s first ever cup action will be against a side from their own level as they take on Division 6:29 outfit FBC Luja. Framleyshire will have to wait until the second leg to get their taste of the action, though.
Also playing across the pyramid are Solent Sirens, who take on JK Heitukat of Division 6:14. The sides may be at the same level, but Heitukat are managerless, making the Sirens strong favourites.
Struggling Witches of Chiswick would have probably preferred another draw than facing a side from a step higher, like Club Ragazze of Division 5:29. At least the second leg is at Field Lane.
Viking South Utsira are off to old Ontario to take on Division 6:26 outfit Algonquin Park Rangers.

Does one’s nose start bleeding when stepping out at an altitude such as Division 2b? That is the question for Viking South Utsira as they venture into the unknown.
The Blood Eagles first outing saw them take on Van Helsings GLS at the Stoker Stadium. 15 minutes in and there was an ‘Oh, OK’ moment for Velvet Android’s girls when the hosts took the lead, but rather than retreat into themselves, Viking kept plugging away and got their rewards when Heidi Hovland equalised after 32 minutes.
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune where left back in their quiver during a chanceless second-half as VSU opened with an encouraging away point.

Drakaina are on much more familiar turf in Division 4h. They began this year’s campaign hosting newly-promoted Cicada WFC.
Was it the lack of form in friendlies, or a hangover from the exceptionally tight end to last season that lead to this flat performance? Unknown, but it’s definitely true that The Dragons fire was out for this game. Cicada were the better side throughout and deserved their 1-0 win, prompting some spectacularly downbeat press interaction from home manager Etienne. It wasn’t be that bad, surely?

It could have gone like Coxy Ladies Wulpen’s Division 4i debut against Hammer Throwers, for example.
The Waders were on the back foot for most of the match, though they did fashion more opening half chances than their opponents. Which was only a straw to cling to really, as Hammer Throwers were one up at the break despite their fewer opportunities. Janik’s side continued to huff and puff after the break, but it was their house knocked down by two late Hammers strikes. That post-promotion honeymoon period was brief!

Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC were also looking to carry the momentum of rising a level. However opening opponents Glada Märsta Ladies would have something to say about that.
The visitors had the better of the first half, and probably just about merited a 1-0 advantage at the break, though that did come from their solitary chance. The deficit was small enough that Seanoftheshed’s side retained hope of getting something out of the game, up until Diksha Dalmiya earned herself a straight red card in the 72 minutes that is. After that, the game was up for The Sea Spirits.

Playing a game which counts must have come as a shock to the system for LNWR Locomotive after The Steamers found themselves marking time in mid-table isolation for much of the last campaign.
Unfortunately Locomotive’s fires were not well enough stoked as they turned in an underpowered performance against San Francisco. The hosts controlled proceedings throughout, scoring at regular intervals as Viktor Boskovic’s side were left stranded in a siding with a red signal that never showed any signs of changing. The match ended 3-0 to the hosts, for the record.

We welcome a new name to the fold in Season 50, as the latest attempt to establish a Ladies team in Framleyshire saw the formation of Sockford Emollient. The manager has also had a change of name, with nrmfox now going by Foxy265. He actually quietly took charge of the team in their previous guise towards the end of last season, but only had a chance to move them to John Spencer Street in the closed season.
Emollient’s bow came in a Division 6:39 match against Landskrona Ladies. And what a debut it proved to be, as Sockford ran riot in the opening half, scoring four times. Alexia Batistuta opened the scoring after just four minutes, turning in a Hege Haraldsen free-kick. Haraldsen proved she could do it unaided eleven minutes later, Lise True fired one in from range after 25 minutes and Helena Valdemar nodded home the fourth with three minutes left in the half.
Four was enough for Sockford, who declared then and there, allowing Landskrona to pull one back after the break. The visitors finished with 10 players after Mariana Boengiu received a second yellow of the day, but as that came deep into stoppage time there was no time for Emollient to make use of their numerical superiority. But given their dominance on the scoreboard already, that hardly mattered.

Following a drop off in form in the second-half of last season, it is important that Invisible Ladies don’t take too many games to get themselves going this time around in Division 6:41.
They will have to wait until at least matchday 2 though, as Cleckheaton Athletic proved too tough a nut to crack in the opener. The See-Throughs matched their hosts chance of chance in the opening half, though the lack of possession his team was seeing must have given manager Pebblethefish cause for concern.
If he was worried, he was proved right as Cleckheaton opened the scoring on 64 minutes. The See-Throughs were still in the game by hook or by crook at this point, but they didn’t survive Rachel Crouch being dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 81st minute, conceding a killer second goal seconds after she departed the pitch.

Relegation sent Solent Sirens down to Division 6:42. Their first game at the new level saw them facing off with managerless Pegasus Girls, which is the sort of gentle run out many recently relegated bosses would like.
It took just seconds for The Sirens to open the scoring, Jin-Ae Hyeong crashing home after a corner wasn’t cleared. Marlene Stieglecker made it two on 21 minutes and later increased the total to four with a header from a 51st minute corner. In between Simone de Beauvoir had extended the advantage, also from a corner like the other three goals. Finally we got one from a different source on 81 minutes when Eva Sundén headed in an open-play cross (different, but not very different). Five was where Andrew7610’s girls left it.
It isn’t always guaranteed that one will beat a zombie though, as Wiblflibl found when his Witches of Chiswick side were held to a draw by Mariebergs IK.
This match also took place in Division 6:42, but that is where the similarities ended as The Bewitched huffed and puffed, but didn’t create enough chances and failed to blow Mariebergs’ door down. Chiswick did losing defender Terumi Ota to a 9-day injury just before the hour, but to blame the lack of a win on that would be a bit extreme. That first win in a while (the Witches went through the whole of the last league season without a three-point haul) is still to be claimed.

Having to overcome a slow start probably cost Menywod Maeshafn the Division 6:55 title last time out. Or at least that is what IsThatcherDeadYet would have been suggesting to his team ahead of their opener this term in 6:56 against Femme Fatale FC.
The hosts were newly promoted and on a long winning run, but they found themselves denied the ball throughout the opening half. Chances were at a premium for Maeshafn despite their ball hogging, indeed they made none prior to the interval. However breaking down their opponents became easier when they were reduced to 10 in the 47th minute as Patricia Rodolofo did something heinous off the ball.
Now the chances flowed and though only one was taken, Elodie van Hijde swirling home a direct free-kick after 78 minutes, that one was enough for this campaign to start with bang.

One little slip-up last term proved enough to keep Dublin City Womens FC in Division 6:57. They will be looking to avoid a repetition this time around, making games such as their opener at Queens 2.0 times where there was little margin for error.
Not that a mistake ever seemed likely as Mortal Joe’s girls controlled proceedings from start to finish. It took 54 minutes for their dominance to be reflected on the scoreboard, but once Ana Isabel Carreto had crashed home from range, the destination of the points looked set. It was completely confirmed in the 77th minute when an unfortunate rebound off Queens defender Diana Arenberg ended up in her own net.

One season Csiki Girls will make promotion to Division 5 stick. It wasn’t last campaign though, so it’s again back to square one and get up and out of Division 6:62.
The first step of that journey took Ad Hoc’s side to SC Agroi. The Csiki’s made most of the running in this one, despite the early loss of star forward Solange Solas to a horrible 19-day knock. Also missing is legendary forward Ann Sofie Carlberg, who now spends her games in the directors box at A kertem following retirement. That opens up the Csiki’s direct free-kick duties to others, defender Trudy Woozley staking her claim as she stepped up in the 71st and 82nd minutes and twice wheeled away in celebration seconds later.
Agroi pulled one back in stoppage time but as this was their only shot of the day it wasn’t a significant development.

Great stuff Janik. Division 2 does indeed represent a step up into the unknown – are VSU the first of our cohort to make it this high in the Ladies? Haven't looked at today's result yet but it was a very difficult game against the always powerful Mighty Aphrodite so I'm under no illusions of our having kept up our decent start.

If I might add to your workload a fraction, may I remind you we've also got Erbil in Division 6.4 (if I remember correctly, or possibly Div 6:40) now, run by Jdsx of OTF D1's Four Candles? He took them over last season I think and hasn't changed the name so far as I know.

Thanks VA. I wasn't wanting to add to Janik's workload. Hehe. Yes, still in division 6:4, despite the 11-match winning run at the end of last season(!); and still called Erbil. I quite like the name (it being a palindrome of Libre [assuming you allow Monty Python references on here]), so I think I'll just leave it...in spite of the fact that there is a town called Erbil, as I'm sorry to say I only learnt when I googled it...

Another evening spent setting the tactics for 9 teams. No wonder I don't bother to write press releases any more.

I have to say, since trimming to seven teams* I've found my evenings a lot less tight than before. I think it's only once per week where I'm doing three, otherwise it's one or two. It (a) enables a little more attention per game and (b) should mean a bit more time for OTF, where I'm still catching up with a few threads. I'm also managing to keep up PRs.

It had become a little bit of a chore. Now it's fresh again, coupled with potentially better news from Starship X11.

*biggest regret: quitting the excellent J4GL, Warthogs and their lovely bespoke VA kits. I'd already done it with Tamworth Reds and will never request a personal kit again. The poor man's done enough.

Don't say that Sits, you know you're one of my very best customers. You can always request a new set of kits from me as long as you remain VIP, as far as I'm concerned. Which I'd prefer to be the case for a long time to come, though maybe it's just vanity as I've done all (I think) of the kits and various badges across your roster.

I have to say, though, when you dropped the 'Nakuru' from the Warthogs' name they lost something for me. (Well, they lost half their name, I suppose that's it.) I don't know why, the generic nature of the shortened single-word name made my eyes just slide off it for some reason; I had a devil of a time trying to keep up with your results after that.

Speaking of the J4GL, keep this quiet but admin Legrandefromage told me a week or two back he is unfortunately planning to step down from the role (and possibly step back from the game) sometime soon, as he's disillusioned with the quirks of the game engine going against him and rather fed up trying to keep everyone happy, police all the PRs and whatnot in a league that big. I hope it remains in equally good hands afterwards as it's a great league and, as I said to him, I wish I'd join it a lot earlier.

You're too kind VA. Indeed all our kits are yours, and all bar the Babirusas are tailor-made, but those off-the-peg ones are perfect. And apart from badges I've stolen from the "real" world yes, the Curlies and KuneKune are blessed by your talents.

That would be a shame about Legrandfromage. He's a good egg that big cheese.

I've put in a couple of name requests VA if you've got time to approve them.

If Legrandfromage does go that will be the first team I'll drop from my Zeugma franchise, I might even make a return to the Xpert Ladies just to appear in one of Janik's excellent write ups. I'm not happy with my team in this league anyway or the Xpert Zone so those teams disappearing wouldn't be a problem.

VA if you are designing any kits in the future could I ask for anything in red and black?

Haha, you know I always try to make sure there's red & black and black & red (so to speak) versions of most designs I come up with AE, especially for you.

(Apologies for any Kylie & Jason earworm.)

I gathered about LGF's intentions because he asked me if I'd take over as admin of the J4GL, which I was mildly stunned at since I've not even been in that league for very long. It would be a terrific thing to do as it's one of the very top leagues in the game, and I admitted I was kind of tempted. But I just can't, in all sanity, acquiesce to taking that on as well as running the Brythonnic Premiership, not to mention assisting in the Human League and MLX, and, you know, just running 9 teams of my own.

                                              Edit: Can I?

                                              No.

                                              Probably.

Sadly it looks as though I will be sacking a manager in the Human League. Halfman_Halfbix of Lokomotiv Oven Gloves has not logged in for three weeks but has to his other teams. He must have been disappointed with the finish position or CR, I don't know.

Anyway if someone wants in, let me know and I will show unashamed bias in your favour.
