Could be a “development” season for Les Sangliers in the Human League, after a mere three games.

The question for Drakaina was whether they could break a dull as dishwater Chelsea Ladies FC side down.
The visitors arrived at Delphi with a reputation for boredom and a playing record to match – just three goals scored and three goals conceded in their eight previous games, none of which have had more than a single strike in them. That made them both the stingiest defence and the least potent attack in Division 2b, which is an unusual pair of categories to lead simultaneously.
The Dragons thought they had their breakthrough in the 19th minute when Susanna Barry had the ball in the Chelsea net, but referee Manuel Ficu was having none of it. If that frustrated Drakaina boss Etienne, Ficu was more popular when he also shook his head over a Chelsea strike later in the half.
The second period produced a legitimate chance for both sides. But these were not converted as Chelsea bored their way to another stalemate.
Would more excitement be on offer in Gastele’s trip to Fembots?
Yes, it would turn out. Somewhat. There was a goal at least, Fembots taking the lead just before the half-hour. The score of 1-0 against Jdsx’s side felt reasonably justified at the interval based on 42% possession and one shot to two. It didn’t at the final whistle after Gastele had had all the play in the second half, pushing their possession number up to 52% (and as this is a combined number for the first and second halves, presumably actually 62% after the break to average at 52 over the whole match) and chances to 4-2 in their favour. However the one stat that matters, the scoreline, remained stubbornly stuck.
The defeat was a painful one for Gastele as it leaves them still in the 2b drop zone, sitting sixth on nine points, three adrift of Chelsea. As for Drakaina, a draw was a blown opportunity given that leaders FC Sprezzatura lost. As it is the Greeks stay second, now just a point behind but also only a point ahead of third.

With little to chose between sides in Division 3e this season facing a team in the drop zone as Viking South Utsira did when St.Hallvards IF visited Ragnar Rock was no guarantee of success for The Blood Eagles.
Which is getting our, or Velvet Android’s, excuses in early. Not that Viking were without chances in the game. Indeed they had more shots than Hallvards across the 90 minutes, from less than 50% of the ball. But they only finished one of them, Kristin Hovland turning in a 38th minute corner. That strike made it 1-1 at the time, cancelling out the visitors 22nd minute opener. However the leveller was itself responded to just three minutes later.
VSU picked their game up after the break, creating more chances and having more ball. But scoring no more goals as they fell to defeat. That left VA’s side fourth in the 3e standings, now only a point ahead of the bottom three and five adrift of the play-off spot.

Coxy Ladies Wulpen were hopeful of success as they made their way to Chaffers to take on Division 4i’s bottom side Spacecowgirls.
The Waders got off to the perfect settling start as they took the lead in the opening minute, Aurelie Wostijn racing clear to stroke home. Janik’s side proceeded to run the game, with possession and chances abounding. All that was really missing was the finishing as a second goal didn’t arrive until just past the hour mark. When it finally came it was Wostijn’s strike partner, Charlotte Beyen, who got it, heading home from a corner.
A third would have been nice, but ultimately wasn’t necessary as the hosts managed just a single shot. The win kept Wulpen third in the 4i table, but two points closer to the top two after these sides drew with each other.

Next we go on to Division 5:1 which houses two of our new additions to these reports. One of these was AK Heartbreakerz (or at they are that at the moment), where Mortal Joe, or Joe Mortal as he now is due to the inability to re-use usernames has taken over.
The new boss only arrived on Friday, i.e. after the Heartbreakerz game with second-in-the-table S.L. Balelas. This game, which was lost 4-0 didn’t put Joe off. Nor did the Heartbreakerz terrible record, which reads 0-0-9 0-50 after this game. Simply scoring a goal will be a big achievement in the last five games!
HKS5, or Andrew7610 in his previous guise, has been quietly in charge of Bombay Green Rockets for rather longer, since midway through last season in fact. The Green Rockets, or Perilous Knightess as they were then, ended that campaign with relegation from Division 4n and are battling to avoid being drawn into another relegation campaign in 5:1 this term.
Bombay’s latest game sent them to a SC Redondense side that were on the other (wrong, from their perspective) side of the drop zone line. However it was Redondense who had the better of this game in general terms, such that the halftime lead secured by Josefa Alberdi’s strike midway through the period was rather against the run of play.
Redondense kept at it after the break, though The Rockets did have more openings themselves. However it was the hosts who struck next to level. That was how it stayed until very close to the end, but just when Bombay were beginning to think of an unlikely point Redondense struck a winner that they probably deserved but that doesn’t make any less gutting.
The consequences of that 89th minute goal are that The Green Rockets are now just two points clear of the 5:1 drop zone and six points off the play-offs. Heartbreakerz, meanwhile, are doomed to relegation and will be down after their next game if they lose it. As they probably will.

Three straight draws had not helped LNWR Locomotive’s league position ahead of their trip to Slytherin LFC. In fact it made this a match The Steamers could ill afford to lose.
But lose it they did, with the writing already on the wall inside the opening 20 minutes as Viktor Boskovic’s charges found themselves trailing 2-0. If Maja Teigland’s effort just before the interval had stood it might have promoted a comeback. But it didn’t and then midway through the second half the bad day was summed up by skipper Ekaterina Gileva finding herself pressured into knocking the ball into her own net. It means Gileva has scored at least as many goals against her own side as she has managed for them in her 126 LNWR games to date.
The consequences of the loss on Locomotive’s league position were stark – though they remain sixth in the Division 5:16 table they are now six points from safety.

With the top two in Division 5:19 meeting elsewhere Ullapool Northern Star’s trip to the Balkans to take on ŽFK Partizan Beograd was an opportunity for the Scottish side to close back in on the promotion places.
The first half was a tight affair lit up by one moment of quality, Lindsey Lovell hitting a swerving, dipping shot from 35 yards that screamed into the net. The game continued in the same vein after the break until we got a near repeat at an almost identical time, Renate Klovning the player to unleash this time to double Northern Star’s lead. Beograd pulled one back with basically the last kick of the game, which was annoying for the Ullapool defence and ‘keeper but was never going to deny delicatemoth’s side victory.
The win and results elsewhere lifted Northern Star up to second in the standings, still five points adrift of the leaders but now two ahead of third.

Some things seem to go on forever. But eventually most end. And finally the series of games between Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC and Twin Peaks Owls is over!
The Cup meetings had produced a win a piece before Twin Peaks won it on penalties. The Sea Spirits won the first league meeting. Did that mean they were going to lose the return? Not if Rahma Ikmal was having anything to do with it as she turned in a ball from close range for the opener after 8 minutes and then let fly from much further out to score the second on the 20 minutes mark.
The Owls pulled one back five minutes before half-time, and then shaded the chances after the interval, which was likely giving Sea Goddesses boss SeanoftheShed some stress. However the lack of a final nail in the coffin didn’t prove important as those two early Ikmal strikes proved enough to claim the win.
It proved to be an important victory as not only did it keep Kanjeng bowling along with wins in all but one match this season, it was timed well as it coincided with second-placed side The Temptation Within unexpectedly drawing a game to fall four points back.

The title battle in Division 5:32 looks like it’s a three-way affair. Two of those sides, Csiki Girls and Guerreras del Amanecer clashed at the Estadio del Sol Naciente on Matchday 9.
Ad hoc’s side shaded the first half in terms of general play, but sadly not in the one area that really counts, finishing. That went to the hosts who found the target twice from their three chances (though one was from the spot) to the visitors zero from three.
The Csiki’s kept things up after the break, but with more success when Carlota Igreja pulled one back in the 56th minute, outpacing the home defence to stab past the advancing ‘keeper. There were further chances for the visitors after this to get the draw that was the minimum they deserved from the game. But none were taken, unfortunately.
Defeat was a bit of a blown chance as leaders Queens in Uniforms were being held to a stalemate. A win would have taken Csiki Girls top, but as it is they remain second in the table, now a point behind QiU and one ahead of GdA.

Andrew7610 is back in the Xpert Ladies league, but not at Solent Sirens. The Mayfield Park side are back under OTF control though with Kevin S, aka Captain Flack, having taken possession of the leatherette chair and mahogany desk at Mayfield Park.
As with their old boss’ situation at his new club, there is much work to do in righting the drifting Sirens. The good news for the Cap’n is that being already in the bottom tier there is nowhere to get relegated to! The bad? Well, see the last match before taking over at Tomtemors Medhjälpare in which The Sirens took a 5-0 shellacking.
They are not bottom of Division 6:20 however, instead sitting sixth with wins against what were their fellow zombies to their names. Returns of those are upcoming and should provide two more wins, but first Flack and co will attempt to turn over a human-run side.

It’s much less confusing when returning OTF managers simply take the reins back over at their old side. Which is exactly what Pebblethefish has done by returning to the San Seethrough and Invisible Ladies after four seasons away. His first game back in charge was on the road, at Kungsholmens FC, who were also under relatively recent new human management.
Both sides displayed a sense of purpose, vigour and organisation. What was lacking from either was coherence and creative spark. Defences dominated, with just one legitimate chance being created all game. That went to hosts Kungsholmens, and was missed. The home side did have the ball in the See Throughs net once, bit this effort was disallowed.
So the teams remain unchanged in fourth and fifth in the Division 6:34 table (The See-Throughs as the team fifth). Second is actually not impossibly far away for Invisible either, just six points distant.

Our first drop in on Hazeldean Inchmistress saw them destroy managerless Los Angeles Galaxy at Kofi Annan Avenue. Hopes were high that Foxy265’s girls would do similar on the West Coast in the second meeting of the two sides.
Those hopes were pretty well realised by the 6th minute of the match as The Imperials already led 3-0 by this point! They attacked straight from kick-off, setting up Mollie Tattershall for the open less than 20 seconds into the game. That was Tattershall’s first ever career goal. Kelli Barnes headed in a cross to make it two after 4 minutes and Jennie Bringevik waltzed clear to score the third in the 6th.
The Framleyshire outfit were not ready yet to slow up, Bringevik and Barnes scoring each again to take it to 5-0 inside the first quarter-hour. And with that Hazeldean did relax, stirring just once more in the rest of the game to set up leading scorer Kaila Golkás for her customary goal. That came in the 84th minute, and Golkás thought she had another three minutes later but this time her effort was disallowed.
Nothing much changed in the upper echelons of Division 6:43 after the latest set of results as the top three all won. Inchmistress remain second, five points adrift of the leaders and six clear of third.

Zeugma Dostluk Spor were looking to improve on the draw they picked up away to Aperta com Elas FC on Matchday 6 when the later visited Insan Haklari Stadyumu.
There was not all that much between the sides in general play in the first half. Zeugma’s finishing, however, was clinical, burying both the chances they created. Rosaleen Neil turned home a corner for the first on 31 minutes and Makbule Mansiz fired in the second from close range five minutes after that.
There continued to be little between the sides through most of the second half. No further addition was made to the score as the two teams rattle through their substitutions between the hour and 80th minutes. That came back to bite home boss Antepli Ejderha in the 86th minute when Candan Veziroglu went down with a 13-day injury. AE needn’t have worried though as the only goal scored in the few minutes left came for the side with 10, Latife Kurt finding the target in the 89th minute.
Zeugma’s lead at the top of the Division 6:53 table increased with the win as second-placed side Meninas do Convento suffered a shock home defeat. The Anatolians are now four points clear of the chasing pack.

The latest side to attempt to challenge Menywod Maeshafn’s perfect record were mid-table outfit Tellusdam.
Maeshafn boss IsThatcherDeadYet put out an attacking side with a three-pronged attack with an interesting spread of ages involved; a 37 year-old, a 27 year-old and a 16 year-old. The latter two combined for the opening goal, Morgan Beck teeing up Meredith Smythe to fire the first of her career in from 30 yards. The lead was doubled before the break, Tina Käck setting up the third member of the strike force, veteran Ada Westerberg, for the 120th of her career in the 43rd minute.
The Welsh side continued to press the game after the break and were rewarded with a third on 81 minutes as Käck again set up Westerberg, this time sending her clean through on goal. That is the sort of chance Westerberg doesn’t miss. 121.
3-0 in finished whilst elsewhere second in the table Iron empress were being beaten at home. It means Maeshafn are now nine points clear of everyone and closing in on the Division 6:56 title.

Thank you Janik for including me in your report again :-)

Heartbreakerz AK will definitely be renamed next season.

I also made an experiment. With 5 games to play and a crappy squad, I decided to buy a lot of youngsters, which had surprisingly good form and DV of 9 or 10. I hope I can push them that at least some of them jump a bar, so they would be my core for the next seasons.

They all came cheap, which is really nice especially with this league format. I will see how this goes. Next season I have a lot of cash to splash, but I might won't spend too much.

Good luck, Joe. It will be interesting to see how it goes for you.

As for the here and now, how about the Ladies League Cup, Season 57, Round 6 report? This asks: how far can OTFs brave champions go?

              Code:
              Gastele 0 - 1 Rotnäset BK
                                              Elsner 52'

              Viking South Utsira 2 - 0 Ytterbyn
              B.Klovning 26'
              T.Klovning 31'
Gastele were up against a side from a parallel section in the form of fellow Division 2 outfit Rotnäset BK.
The first half of this one showed little between the sides and indeed no action of note in either penalty area, though Jdsx’s charges did have marginally less of the ball. That all changed after the break as the chances began to flow. A goal came quickly, but it came for the wrong side from our perspective. Gastele tried to bounce back from that 52nd minute set-back, and did create some chances though their opponents were also fashioning openings and more frequently.
It would only have taken one strike to force extra time, but it wasn’t to be as Gastele bowed out at this stage. Which is actually the furthest the club has ever been, the Cup clearly never having been a priority for the manager but last (who led Gastele to the Ladies championship and then abandoned them!).

That left just Viking South Utsira flying the OTF flag as they took on another side from the same tier as themselves, Ytterbyn.
Unlikely the cagey opening period in the other game, the two Division 3 outfits went for it seeing this as a great opportunity. Ytterbyn had lots of the ball in the opening half… but The Blood Eagles had the chances. Four of them in fact which was enough for a goal to be likely. But Viking were not satisfied with just Britta Klovning’s 26th minute thunderbolt and sniped again five minutes later, Tyra Klovning following her cousins lead and finishing off after bursting clean through.
The first half wasn’t all good news for Utsira boss Velvet Android however as towards the end of it forward Nina Austrheim went over with what has turned out to be a horror 21-day injury. That definitely puts her out of VSU’s last sixteen encounter with Division 4i side Busby Babes, The Blood Eagles progress to that being secured by a second-half clean sheet. That sounds like a good draw for Viking’s first last-16 tie in six season as they revive a Cup fighter reputation that had taken a few hits in recent seasons.

              Round 7 draw
              Code:
Viking South Utsira vs Busby Babes (4i)

Season 57 of the expanded OTF league kicked off last night. To celebrate this new era, how about an old-style quick round-up? Spoiler alert - your team's result will be mentioned here, so if you don't want to know the scores, look away now.

                OTF
Defending champions Croesoswallt Dragons were held to a 1-1 home draw by Four Candles, the teams exchanging goals in a five-minute spell in the first quarter of the game. The only winners on the opening day were the newly promoted duo Turd Division and Dandy Town. After surrendering an early 2-0 lead, the Turds eventually clinched a 3-2 win at Zeugmaspor with a goal from Glaucio Casqueira in the 88th minute, by which time the hosts were down to ten men after key defender Abdin Praminho was stretchered off. After their brief sabbatical in Division 1, perennial champions Dandy Town looked their old dominant selves in a comfortable 1-0 win at Great Ouse Town, Colbert Portway netting the winner. The third promoted side, AFC Csiki Monkeys, played out a goalless draw at home to Berkshire Swine. The game between Rock City Ferrets and Vita Mortis looked set to be similarly goalless as stoppage time approached, but then Mortis midfielder Nigel Paard stole the show, delighting the home fans with a 91st-minute own goal to give the Ferrets a deserved lead but then quickly disappointing the home fans with a 95th-minute equaliser.

                Division 1
Season 55 OTF champions Nieuwegein Kneebiters are in the early stages of a comprehensive rebuild and are currently adopting the Liverpool FA Cup strategy of entrusting their fortunes to their youth team. Unfortunately, they are likely to find that the majority of their opponents are less accommodating than Everton. That was certainly the case in the season opener at home to Banik Roystonov, the visitors triumphing 5-0 with two goals each from Pawel Brantl and Bratislav Mikulik. To round things off, Kneebiters sub Enzo Vermant was sent off 32 minutes into his debut. Rejects Redux were the other winners in the division, an early own goal from Locomotiv Noj's Woolley Edge proving decisive. Eriskay Expression and Whoft Fluffopolis were two divisions apart last season but fought out a keenly contested 2-2 draw, the home side twice having to come from behind. Hideous Towns and Wensleydale Blues also shared four goals, with Hideous striker Arnold van Aerle grabbing three of them, the third a 92nd-minute equalising own goal. There was another late leveller at Saltney Drawers, Axel Jackson firing home three minutes from time for the home side to deny visitors Kernow Kensa all three points.

                Division 2
There were no home winners in the top two divisions, but Steaua Bridge had no trouble in front of their own fans, putting seven past visitors Pinewood Passers without reply. A very early injury to the only senior Pinewood player on display, Takita Yamasita, didn't help their cause and they were 3-0 down inside the first ten minutes. Wharfedale Generals and Athletico Deva were relegated together from Division 1 last season but they look to have very different campaigns ahead of them this time. The Generals are another side looking firmly to their future and their young team was beaten 4-0 by Deva's more experienced line-up. Heffron Hendecagon were also 4-0 winners away from home, a hat-trick from Mark Barber helping them to see off Veni Vici Vigata. A 90th-minute header from Brian Munchingflapjack's Carlos Ivan was enough to settle a tight contest at Great Northern Railway, while Wednesday de la Zouch's game with OWC Albion finished scoreless.

                Division 3
Game of the day in the new-boys division was The Blomstrands' 4-3 win at Poplar Massive Crew. The promptings of Blomstrand Gustav Ølholt were enough to give the visitors the edge in a lively encounter, ensuring that Rogerio Alfama's late goal for Poplar, his second of the game, was a mere consolation. die Ambosse eased to a 3-0 home win over Richmond P&P, who were hampered by an early injury to Jermaine McKee. A goal either side of half time saw Hampshire Deers to a 2-0 win over visitors Eintracht Midwest, while New Dresden eventually turned territorial dominance into chances and goals, scoring twice in the last 15 minutes to win at Llandudno Jet Set. Cods of War had the day off.

Wowsers, cheers HO for doing that. A bittersweet win for Steaua as The Doc picked up a nasty injury. Glad it's 13 rather than 14 days though, so hopefully just the three games missed.

(I put it in sport, but I could put it in games too, but any suggestions for online cycling/baseball games in this vein? )

It's good to be back, going to be a long trying season for eintracht, particularly if nobody confronts whatever is causing the damp echo in the underground if the stadium.

Zeugmaspor not only lost but picked up a 21 day injury, that's potentially six matches or a third of the season. Development is gone so I'll probably have to sell him. Ho hum.

That's rotten luck, AE <quickly checks fixture list to see if it will affect the Candles match against Zeugmaspor.....> ;-)

Thanks HotOrange, I looked through the results but this adds a nice bit of colour to the flat stats.

On a technical note, can anyone tell me if it's possible to pre-arrange substitutions, or can they only be done by you if you're watching the game live?

You can prearrange your substitutions lambers. Look on the tactics page for substitutions, it's on the top right.

You can also get your assistant coach, I.e. the game itself, to automatically make changes.

Choose either top substitute when slightly injured or not, I think the majority of us don't substitute but it does leave your players more likely to get a longer injury.

Thank you AE, I see that now and there's more options available than I thought there might be. I was thinking of it using to help boost the DV of youngsters who don't start, without sacrificing competitiveness.

Since we’re in throwback mode, and none of us OTFers have made the “real” Major League XPert 11 (MLX) final, here’s a preview of the MLX Challemge Bowl final this evening. For those new to the OTF League, MLX is a league run by Various Artist, with a Champions League format. VA kindly organises a friendly tournament for those of us who didn’t qualify for the Last 16 of the main event, and they run concurrently. Below I’m ripping off a “preview” format VA created - his were better - for the big finals in MLX seasons of yore. I haven’t been to many so this seems a good excuse, and Hot Orange deserves it for that OTF roundup:

I should add that both those shirts, and my badge, are Various Artist’s designs. We’re lucky to have him doing this for us. I should also add that to be in a Champions League format like MLX, and to have special shirts/badges, you need a VIP membership. They start at about €8.

Thanks for the preview, Sits. Looks like things have been very tight between MM and KK over the years - hopefully that points towards a draw tonight. All the best.

Fantastic Sits! Good luck both in the MLX Challenge Bowl final in a few minutes' time, where HO will be hoping to complete the Malouins' superb bid to draw their way all the way to their maiden silverware and where the Puhgs are trying for a repeat of the final result from four seasons ago.

And great work HO on the OTF report – I actually logged in to see about writing one myself, but having not got around to it in the last couple of days I see you got in first. If nothing else, my own player Nigel Paard's extraordinary stoppage-time contributions at both ends of the field against the Ferrets were worthy of note I thought!

We could always 'tag team' like we used to on the Heineken League, if you like, so I could see about doing Monday's?

Hadn't actually logged in since the 1st, I see – having rather broken my OTF addiction with my long layoff from the boards last year, I seem to be able to drop out for weeks at a time without really registering it these days. In belated answer to Jdsx, I'm keeping my late-season gem from the Viking South Utsira youth academy, 17/5 goalkeeper Cordelia Austrheim, which should confirm our relegation given that I debuted her on Tuesday and we went down 3-1 to slip from playoff contention straight into the dropzone. I was hoping to keep our remarkable parallel Cup run going this weekend, but as Janik noted we lost one of our best strikers to injury in that league game and despite being up against a last-16 opponent at a similar level to ourselves they were that bit stronger across the board and their manager's tactics were better, so alas our run is over.

Just watched the Grand Final between Gotham City and Titans Ten, though, and it was an absolute belter, a classic and well worth 'watching' before you see the results page:

I see, meanwhile, you've seen the Challenge Bowl final result, but will keep the embargo on spoilers a little longer in case anyone else happens to want to watch it without knowing. Suffice to say, anyway, I'm delighted that win or lose the Malouins and VA Sports have successfully arranged next season's couture:

They look great, VA. I might prefer a greater blue/orange contrast on the first set, but I can see that it would be difficult to implement in that design. I will certainly be very happy to use both designs in the seasons to come and look forward to doing so.
