Well, given that the unthinkable could happen and Dandy Town be relegated, he's clearly got things on his mind.

Haven’t done one of these for a while, so why not? Berkshire Swine pre-CR, no buying to do which is good as we’re skint as usual. Sorry it’s big, someone remind me how to reduce?

McDougald, Hunter and van Rijswijck are the three players I bought or recruited as 17-year-olds when I embarked on a ground-up rebuild. I told myself at the time that when those three were the seniors we would win the league. Hmmmm

              Nine plus
              Five flat
              Purperhart double minus and retiring

              That’s OK.

Only Colwinston retiring for Dragons, no surprise as he was mainly on the bench. No doubles, but the under 30s all jumped.

My YA graduate who appeared as a 17/5 has just doubled to become a 22/12, worth 15 million. Keep or sell....??

Oh well, the players who didn't jump on DVs of 16+ will surely jump next time. Never had that much prize money before, anyway - over 2 million in total!

Kneebiters spent all the money on winning the title, and neglected the youth players. Worth it, but our long-term prospects are not good.

Sod 'em. Long-term prospects are always open to the vagaries of fate, short-term glory is – ironically – eternal.

Bravo again Wouter; I felt I had to pop in here to say that 'publicly' as the Kneebiters' triumph was so phenomenally overdue. Very well done, it even makes Mortis finishing 2nd a lot more bearable when the nature of the title win is so cheering.

And I like that AE said above how it "gives us all hope", when I noticed last night that it was his Zeugmaspor side who denied the 'Biters by two points 25 seasons earlier in your previous closest brush with OTF glory...!

That reminds me, stats fans: for those VIPs who haven't stumbled across my in-game postings the other week about this, I inadvertently and very belatedly realised just recently that it's possible to manually adjust the 'Season Overview' URLs to pull up final tables from earlier campaigns than those included in the dropdown menu on that page – which only covers the seasons played since the feature was introduced in 2014-ish.

So for the OTF the earliest shown is Season 32:
                          http://www.xperteleven.com/seasonsta...391&lnr=1&s=32

But if you change that last bit you can pull up the hidden page for e.g. Season 30 to reveal the margin by which Nieuwegein Kneebiters were runners-up to Zeugma, as I did last night for PR research purposes:
                          http://www.xperteleven.com/seasonsta...391&lnr=1&s=30

The '&lnr=1' denotes the tier level, the '&s=30' denotes the season number. These can be played with to your heart's content to look at the tables from any division in any previous campaign, so it's actually possible to go back and look at the remains of the top flight from the very first season of a league.

The caveat seems (as far as I can tell) to be, for teams from those earlier seasons to still be shown they need to have survived at least as far as the point where the Season Overviews started appearing. That is, clubs no longer in existence but who were still extant in Season 32 or later will be shown all the way back through those earlier overviews too, as if the data for all the 'hidden' seasons was permanently archived at the time the feature was introduced despite them not being obviously viewable. It works for the (similarly aged) Heineken too, the J4GL, Xpert Zone, etc. etc.

Gastelle welcomed Hippy Chicks to The Lemon Grove in confident mood after winning both matches since Jdsx took over the reins.
However their visitors were also on a good run, second in the table in fact. And it was Hippy Chicks who struck first, going ahead after just five minutes play. Gastele’s new found resolution and belief came to the fore though, as they levelled up on 49 minutes through Fernanda Perdao’s breakaway strike.
The match stayed nip-and-tuck until the 83rd minute, but then it got a fairy story ending. The boss had handed 16 year old forward Lisa McRenton her first ever appearance, putting her on from the start and keeping her in the game. He got vast rewards for his faith as McRenton burst clear and showed the freedom of youth by cheekily nutmegging the Chicks ‘keeper for the winner.
Despite the win, other results kept Gastele sixth in the Division 1a standings. However, they are now on fine form, and know a victory next up against Linköping will put them above the line…

Viking South Utsira travelled to struggling Championettes marooned in mid-table and therefore without too much riding on the game.
Against a side with just three points from their opening 10 matches, Blood Eagles boss Velvet Android went hunting DV. That rather backfired as Championettes scored three times in five first half minutes to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Emilie Klovning reduced the arrears before the interval and Nina Austrheim struck midway through the second half to close the gap to one, but chasing the game meant Utsira leaving gaps and that resulted in two more for the hosts.
Championettes finished with 10 players due to injury, but by the time this happened there was just stoppage time to play out and the game was done at 5-2.
Elsewhere in the same section it was top against bottom as Drakaina took on FC MadKuts Cologne.
The visitors set up in a defensive and counter-attacking mode. And it nearly worked. Nearly. The Dragons got tangled up in knots repeatedly trying to pick their way through the crowd, but when they did get a sight of goal, such as the opening that presented itself to Laria Sietaridis on the half-hour, they were clinical.
Boss Etienne would probably have preferred not waiting until the last minute of normal time to add a second, but his side got their eventually, Florica Vulturescu blasting in the clincher from distance.
There was good news for the Greeks from elsewhere in Division 3d as nearest challengers Gazzas Gals were held to a draw and dropped a place. The Dragons are now four points clear of new second-placed side Deportivo Cruz Azul. VSU, meanwhile, remain fifth and four points clear of the drop zone.

Coxy Ladies Wulpen’s previous attempts at Division 4 have followed a pattern; start slow, win a bunch mid-season, finish stone cold and go down. This season they experimented with a quick jump, winning five of their first six games, but now have ran into the all-too-familiar slump.
The latest side to beat The Waders were Spicks Killiettes who dominated from start to finish and struck twice, just before the half-hour and just before the hour. Wulpen did have some chances, but for Janik’s side to get anything from this match would have been a travesty.
Coxy Ladies are also unlikely to get anything from the season in general as they are now four points behind the Division 4j leaders Misconduct United and three points and -14 goal difference behind second spot which is held by the Killiettes.

It was vital to their survival hopes that Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC picked up a win at bottom side McClymonts FC.
The Sea Goddesses appeared to understand that as they came out all guns (do guns blaze underwater??). Their first half pressure and chances were rewarded twice with strikes in the 32nd and 38th minutes from Adèle Pailloux and Rahma Ikmal respectively.
SeanoftheShed’s side kept the pressure up after the break, but didn’t add to their tally until prodded into doing so by McClymonts pulling one back, Ikmal restoring the two goal advantage just 120 seconds later with an 85th minute finish.
The win, just Kanjeng’s second of the campaign, lifted them up to fifth in the Division 4k table. The gap to danger is just goal difference, though.

                            Comment

A top of the table clash, albeit no longer an all-OTF one, sent Division 5:17 leaders LNWR Locomotive to one of their nearest rivals, Erbil.
The Steamers were in hot water in this one from the get go, as Erbil dominated. Locomotive boss Viktor Boskovic was likely hoping his side would cling on to 0-0 until half-time when he could tweak things, but unfortunately for LNWR fans Erbil took the lead on 41 minutes.
The Steamers had more sights of goal after the break, but the next strike decided it as Erbil made it 2-0 on 79 minutes. And with that the teams swapped places in the table, Erbil going top and The Steamers dropping to third on goal difference.

Ullapool Northern Star were expecting a win at bottom-of-the-pile Ludos Lovelies, particularly once it became clear the visiting boss was AWOL.
And delicatemoth’s side were to deliver precisely that, but not without some frustration along the way. The Scots struck first, Lynn Weatherhead opening the scoring after 10 minutes and created enough chances to add to that total before the break. It was completely against the run of play that the only other strike of the first 45 came for the visitors, then.
Northern Star kept creating openings after the interval, but it was a bad break for their opponents which they best exploited as a serious injury and no subs named reduced Ludos Lovellies to 10 players in the 53rd minute. Just 120 seconds later Weatherhead headed her side back in front.
2-1 was pretty safe against 10 players but 3-1 was better and that is how it finished following Babette Späth’s last minute effort.

Another must win game in the bottom half of the table pitted Menywod Maeshafn against the side three points and one place below IsThatcherDeadYet’s side, Jocvijeve Zecice.
The Croatian side struck first on 16 minutes, but Maeshafn responded effectively immediately, Lisha Boye heading home. Jocvijeve Zecice went back in front soon after the interval and added another on 62 minutes. Ellinor Lydell made it interesting again with a second of the night for the Welsh side on 65 minutes, only for Jocvijeve Zecice to drive the final nail in on 75.
A win would have seen Maeshafn climb out of the Division 5:27 drop zone on away goals. Losing means they remain three points adrift of safety.

The top two in Division 5:31, Csiki Girls and Blood Brothers, clashed at A kertem in a match that had the potential to tip the 5:31 title racing decisively one way.
Or it could leave things inconclusive with a draw. The first team to try and do something to avoid this were Blood Brothers, who took the lead after 16 minutes with a long range strike. That put pressure on ad hoc’s side to respond, and that is exactly what they did when Elly Granheim neatly tied up a 40th minute breakaway.
The second-half saw chances at both ends as each side went searching for a winner. For a terrible second for the Csiki’s fans it looked like Blood Brothers had got it in stoppage time, but this effort was ruled out by Hans Grüber.
That prompted a sigh of relief amongst the visitors, as would have been news of a defeat for third-placed Gaia Superior even if it came at the hands of FC Universitatea Cluj, who take over the spot. Csiki Girls remain second in the 5:31 standings, a point adrift of the leaders but with a better goal difference. They are also only GD ahead of third, though.

The pressure on Zeugma Dostluk Spor as they chased relentless Division 6:54 leaders Marianne in Chains was enormous – no drop points were allowed. That was going to be especially difficult against a handy side like Magarac.
Antepli Ejderha’s charges started well enough, Volante Turchetti firing them in front in the 3rd minute, but that proved to be a false dawn as Magarac levelled on 10 and were 3-1 up by the 25th. Suzan Özköylü reduced the arrears before the break only to see the margin restored soon after the restart.
Zeugma pushed on gamely to try and claw things back after this, but snatched at most of the chances they created. Apart from Turchetti that is, who closed the gap to one with a 74th minute strike. The leveller that was needed (never mind the winner) didn’t materialise despite Zeugma putting six shots in on goal across the second period.
Results elsewhere in 6:54 mitigated the damage rather as third-placed Haruhiists were held to a shock draw. It means Zeugma are still three points and +5 GD clear in second spot. The leaders won though, and are now gone.

They talk of a new manager bounce in real Football. Less so in X11, where sides at the bottom generally stay that way. That was probably why Jdsx rocked up at Gastelle playing down expectations. He was fighting a losing battle on that front after his first three games in charge produced a 3-0-0 8-1 record. If his side could make it four from four at Swedish/Italian fusion side FC Linköping Calcio then the chances of doing so would recede to the far distance.
This talks around the game a lot as, in terms of action, very little happened! The occasional card and the occasional minor injury were all the Stångebro IP crowd had to warm them for most of the match. The hosts did manage a shot at one point during the second half, which was something Gastele couldn’t muster until the 86th minute. That was when a corner fell nicely for Rosey Dickson and she gleefully lashed it into the net!
And with that Gastele were up to fourth in the Division 1s table. They are now two points clear of the drop… and also only two points adrift of Gretna Girls, who currently hold the play-off spot and who provide the next opponents. If they can maintain their form for three more games, then, well…

Division 3d leaders Drakaina travelled to third-placed side Gazzas Gals for one of their tricky looking remaining fixtures.
The hosts were set up to play counter-attacking football, which allowed The Dragons lots of first half possession. However, they used it to little effect as Gazzas Girls made more chances with two-fifths of the ball. Without scoring though, which meant it was Etienne’s side who went ahead when Sandrine Petit fired home in the 47th minute.
The Greeks had a few chances to add to that through the second-half, but were also pretty assured at the back. In fact they were still 1-0 up in stoppage time when the hosts were awarded a free-kick in shooting range. This was hammered at the wall, took a horrible deflection and nestled in the corner of the net!
Elsewhere in the same section Viking South Utsira could put any relegation concerns to bed by beating the side who started the game four points below them, Gehenna Hot Pants. However Gehenna could equally really open up the relegation fight with a win.
It was the hosts who took to the situation better, pressing Velvet Android’s side back in the opening half. And doing so successfully, netting twice. The Blood Eagles pulled one back against the run of play on 55 minutes, and did so with a landmark goal as young forward Anneke Hovland (16) got her first senior goal, but Gehenna reasserted their authority and two-goal cushion around 20 minutes later to seal the win.
That left Viking just one point above the 3d drop zone. The final spot will be taken by one of these two teams as the gaps above and below are both seven points. At the other end that late, late equaliser means Drakaina are not on the absolute cusp of the title; they would have been six points clear rather than the four they are once it went in. One more win will be enough, though.

After an extended recent stutter, Coxy Ladies Wulpen were looking to reignite their promotion campaign against bottom side Angelic Upstarts.
When it’s all going wrong though, things conspire. The Waders dominated possession, but couldn’t create chances. They held the Upstarts at arms length, only giving up one chance in the game. But that one was converted to give the visitors the lead on 34 minutes. Aurelie Wostijn responded to level for Janik’s side six minutes later, but no winner was forthcoming as not enough openings were created for sheer weight of numbers to force one home.
It did break the run of losses I suppose, and Wulpen’s position in the Division 4j table remains decent. They sit fourth, three points adrift of the play-off place and six ahead of the drop zone. However, mid-table is looking by far the most likely now.

Mid-table would do Kanjeng Ratu Kidul WFC nicely. That was what they were chasing when they welcomed Albion to the Merapi-Kraton-South Sea stadium.
The sides began the day level on points in the Division 4k table, with The Sea Goddesses sitting higher by dint of a goal difference two better. However, the running table soon showed them dropping below the line as Albion took the lead on 13 mintues.
Rahma Ikmal levelled on 28 but the visitors pulled ahead again on 38. At this point chance conversion looked to be the difference between the sides, but that had its effect on the game. Manager SeanoftheShed was forced to chase, which left gaps in the Sea Spirits backline, which Albion exploited to add two more strikes.
A pretty disastrous day ended with Kanjeng in the drop zone, sliding down to seventh, three points and +4 GD from safety.

After being bumped from top spot last week by Erbil, LNWR Locomotive were looking for an immediate bounce back. Their opponents could almost have been hand-picked as The White Walkers were surely on their way to relegation, which a defeat would potentially confirm.
The Steamers were on top from the outset, but found themselves straining at the brake for nearly an hour. The key moment, when it came, turned out to be a blessing very much in disguise: Charlotte Nixon was chopped down in the 58th minute and picked up a 15 day injury (her assailant got yellow), only for Nixon’s replacement, Gayane Zakarian, to open the scoring with her first touch of the game on the hour mark!
Maro Toutoundjian headed home a corner for the second on 84 minutes and Zakarian turned provider in stoppage time, flinging over a flag kick that Flávia Reisinho as Viktor Boskovic’s side ultimately claimed a comfortable win.
The victory was enough to lift them back to second in the Division 5:17 table, two points adrift of Erbil (who won) and two ahead of SLB Femenino, who were held to a goalless draw. Oh, and The White Walkers were relegated with the defeat and other results going against them.

Having got within striking distance of the top two, could Ullapool Northern Star make it count at Fair Maidens of FISO?
The hosts came into the game in the play-off spot, but only a single point ahead of Star. And it was the visitors who struck first, Sonia Menashi heading in a corner on the half-hour to give Delicatemoth’s side the lead. It was no more than her charges deserved as they were holding over 60% possession. However fairly soon after they suffered a blow when defender Hellen MacKintosh was forced from the field with a 6-day injury. MacKintosh’s replacement, Pia Moilanen, is actually a stronger player, but Ullapool were still re-organising back there when FISO levelled.
The second half followed the same pattern as the latter stages of the first, Ullapool dominating possession but FISO making the few scoring openings going. That limited number proved enough for the hosts however as they netted a winner on 72 minutes.
Defeat left Northern Star four points adrift of FISO in the Divisino 5:19 standings with two matches to play. And as FISO’s next game is against bottom-of-the-table Ludos Lovlies (two points all season), it’s now looking a forlorn hope for a second straight promotion. As consolidations go, it counts as a very successful campaign, though.

After last week’s damaging defeat against a fellow relegation battler, Menywod Maeshafn simply had to win against Racing 92 da Feira. and not just because they were three points adrift of the visitors, but also because Racing’s new boss has clad them in the most stupidly sexist kits going. The prick.
So it’s with great pleasure that I can report IsThatcherDeadYet’s side absolutely hammered them. It was 1-0 within seconds, Ada Westerberg heading home and two when she doubled the advantage from the spot on 24 minutes after Hugo Cango awarded a penalty on general principles. Vasilica Mazilu put through her own net six minutes later to make it three, presumably as a protest about the ridiculous imagery on the shirt she had been forced to wear.
Maeshafn didn’t ease off after the break, continuing to make chances. They only added one more however, Simone Kjellberg heading home a corner in the 69th minute. The win moved Maeshafn back out of the Division 5:27 drop zone, and left Racing there instead. However it’s just goal difference keeping the Welsh side’s head above water at the moment. There is more work still to do…

Work also remains for Csiki Girls, who are in the midst of an epic four-way promotion and play-off battle. Just two points covered the top four spots prior to their game at BUNDAS da GESTÃO with the Csiki’s second.
This game was an opportunity as the Csiki’s hosts were bottom of the table, without a point to their name all season, just two goals scored and averaging 4.1 shipped per game. And all this despite having a living manager! Would ad hoc’s side be able to take advantage? That was pretty well answered within the first 60 seconds as Georgia Birch headed them ahead!
The second was a bit delayed taking until… oooh… the 14th minute. Trudy Woozley got it with a direct free-kick, and that started a flurry of strikes. Floriane Smet made it three on 16 minutes, Eleena Munoz got the fourth on 19 and Smet another on 24. Things calmed down somewhat after that with just two more goals added in the remaining time, Carlota Igreja getting the sixth on 40 minutes and Birch rounding off what she had opened on 66.
Elsewhere in Division 5:31 leaders Blood Brothers were suffering a shock defeat to Barca Ladies FC. That was enough to plummet them from top to fourth, and lift the Csiki’s to the top of the pile. They are only a point clear of third-placed Gaia Superior, who visit A kertem in the next round of games.

Week 12 was a tricky one for Zeugma Dostluk Spor as they welcomed champions-elect Marianne in Chains to the Insan Haklari Stadyumu.
With Marianne having a perfect winning record anything Antepli Ejderha’s team could take from the game would be a bonus. And that might be as little as a relatively narrow defeat, seeing as Zeugma’s advantage over third-placed Haruhiists was three points and +5 Goal Difference.
As it happened Zeugma could argue they shaded the first half, but without scoring. That wasn’t true after the break as Marianne took the lead. In the circumstances chasing the game wasn’t particularly wise up until basically stoppage time. And when they did in that, Zeugma conceded again.
0-2 was… OK. It sent Marianne in Chains up, but that couldn’t be prevented anymore. However, it was close enough to keep Zeugma ahead of Haruhiists, who only won their game 1-0. And next week AE’s side play bottom of the table BW Günthersdorf, whilst their rivals face the champions…

The game is losing numbers gradually through attrition and the owners are missing in action, but the game itself remains good, and the loss of numbers doesn't really affect that.

The power of the game is, as it always has been, in its private leagues. Don't bother with the official nonsense and the general population. Just find yourself a private league or four with likeminded people (like OTF, MLX, The Human League, etc.) and eat your heart out.

Welcome back, we hope. All of the leagues run by OTFers are worth joining and are in healthy states. One of them is VIP and all the others aren't.

The leagues, that is, not the OTFers.

Yes, would be fab to have you back on board dglh. I'm running one VIP (MLX) and one non-VIP league (Brythonnic Premiership) for my pains. Sits' Human League is always a great place to be, and of course Sean is still at the tiller of the good ship Heineken, which continues to plough ahead with its full 20 divisions.

Must admit I jacked it in due to real life issues (pressure of work, issues at home) and felt that a break away (as well as from OTF) from wondering about Brady Flatball's fitness, whether Mabel Snutch was too old and how would Framley Imaginaire cope with pressure at the top of the table (HL7) would be of a benefit. Whilst the home issues were happily sorted quickly, the work thing still remains, but I found that this board and the game offered a respite from these.

Am happily starting all over again in the 5 OTFer leagues (OTF, Heineken, MLX, Brythonnic and Human) and whilst I do regret letting my old teams go, it's been fun starting up from scratch again, though if any of my old teams become available I may be tempted, Nigel Pearson like, back to them. I also started again in the Golden League, but this time will go when the season ends as zombie-shooting isn't fun. Also started again in the Ladies League but the first opponent I met had a typically sexist kit and so again, I'm just going to bail out of this at season end - though I do miss Janik's wonderful reports.

I have edged back up to nine teams and keep thinking I need to reduce. The Official League (Golden) is certainly the most soulless, gruelling one and the only thing keeping me there is my fondness for Lincolnshire Curly Coats who I’ve had for nearly six years. WHAT?! That means in June it will be seven years at the Swine. Ridiculous.

The XPert Zone is down to a very small number of OTFers but I adore my Noirs de Bigorre. Or should I say j’adore.

I’m in the Under 23 Premiership with Cumberland Hogs, it’s a tiny league I’ve been in and out of a couple of times but it’s fun as there’s a lot of buying and selling (dictated by the rules of the comp) and wheeler dealing is one of the things I enjoy most.

But something needs to give. Two or three sets of tactics daily is OK. Three or four just edges into chore territory.
