Thé second set of photos threw me, because my immediate reaction to the first was that I had rowed under that bridge dozens of times

Both, though much, much more on the Charles.
Tufts aren't a "traditional opponent". Nor are MIT or BU, which is even weirder as we woupdass their boathouses in training all the time.
The bridge looks like a number of those on the Charles we would row under, but I can't actually recall if we did. Needless to say, the casino wasn't there.Last edited by ursus arctos; 29-11-2022, 14:57.

I'm sure your lot wouldn't demean themselves by rowing against a technical college like the one downstream from you.
I have a feeling that rowing on these rivers was probably more dangerous back when you were doing it. I think if you accidentally swallowed any of the water from the Mystic back more than a couple of decades ago you'd probably end up with a very unfortunate illness.
Other possible reasons for the inclusion of the bridge over the Mystic:
Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" was actually about falling off a boat in Medford?
We're not too far from the Bunker Hill Community College in Good Will Hunting?

We were required to get tetanus shots if we ever ingested any river water, but it was nothing compared to our contemporaries at Columbia, who regularly had to deal with people dropping rocks and cinder blocks from the bridges over the Harlem and would generally encounter a body at least once in their career.Last edited by ursus arctos; 29-11-2022, 15:36.
