Old French cars, blue number plates and a "cédez le passage" road sign so Senegal seems a good bet. Both the streets and the coast actually look very much like when we've had Dakar before

I was going to say London, possibly somewhere near the British museum, but that hotel was a bit of a giveaway so I was right with the London bit, but Bayswater rather than British museum area

Ah blimey that was quicker than I expected. Yes, it's outside the 'blanked-out' 23 & 24 Leinster Gardens, which I thought was a fairly niche bit of knowledge until the other day when I was watching an old episode of Sherlock with my daughter to find that it featured heavily...!

Because my girlfriend's dad loves little bits of urban history like that, when we had a few minutes to kill before taking our train back to my parents' village at the end of our few days in London in 2018 I took them (him, my girlfriend and her brother) to see that, complete with a walk round the back to look at the tracks. It's a nice little one to have up your sleeve if you're showing London to foreigners and have reason to be in the Paddington area.

That's... not a whole lot of clues. Given how small and bashed the cars look we can probably discount North America and Australia. No French cars that I can see so if we're in Europe (which I'm really not sure we are) we're more likely to be in Eastern Europe than, say, Italy or Portugal
