Liebig, which produced the German equivalent of Bovril, also had a plant in Fray Bentos that is part of the UNESCO site.
Just remembered why Liebig rings a bell, they're still a big name in France in the world of soup. Their factory is just outside Avignon. I'd never made the link to the Fray Bentos lot but they appear to have been a branch of the same company
Turns out Liebig also invented Viandox (the French version of Bovril) and Oxo cubes! Clearly second to none in the world of pioneering meat-based innovation
This image comes from standard Street View. I have two more from this spot but at different angles. A fourth is from a nearby photosphere, and I expect that one to definitely give the game away. But let's first see how far we get from the first picture only.
It does look very USian, and the unusual number of adults walking (and the pavements/sidewalks) make me think we are outside of a church/school/museum or some other kind of cultural institution.
The doorway looks a lot like the rear entrance/exit to an auditorium or theatre.
Not too close to your house, unless you've moved very recently and I'm unaware of it.
One more, the street that lies between views 1 and 2. Possibly not too helpful.
I'll just add that I'm sure that ursus, at least, has been inside one (probably two) of the buildings shown so far. As has AdeC (definitely 2). And they're not close to NYC or BC.
For sure S. aureus - that passage to the campus really looked familiar. None of the other pics raised any of that so I was really quite sharply surprised for a moment.
