I honestly thought I posted it at breakfast while waiting on "egg mountain".

having not watched any football this season I am going to be amazed if I got anything near where results might be.

      Final results:
Panthers beat Jets by one score
Texans beat Jaguars by two scores
Eagles beat Falcons by four scores
Bengals beat Vikings by one score (after OT, not that is relevant for this competition)
Chargers beat a Football Team by one score
49ers beat Lions by just one score

Vaccine sceptic Cousins gets the most yards with 351, thanks to his team losing in overtime.
Chargers scored the first RedZone touchdown of the season.

      The more important results:
Presented in chart form with with mild RAG rating, greens are three points, ambers are one point. I'm hoping the code for my pick notation is self evident.

Congratulations to Southport Zeb and ursus arctos, particularly the latter for showing the value of reviewing your posts. They each win a share of the reflected glow from Detroit's epic almost comeback.

Gah, not long before the end I was well-placed for a treble treble (P2, N3, Garoppolo).

19th September, Week two Games: no real theme this time, just what interested me.
          • Rams @ Colts
          • Raiders @ Steelers
          • Bills @ Dolphins
          • Saints @ Panthers
          • Bengals @ Bears
          • 49ers @ Eagles

          Bonus picks
          • Player who runs for the most yards in the six games listed above (stats according to nfl.com) – in the event of a yardage tie, the tiebreaker will be most passing yards by the same runner, and then most touchdowns, before sharing the spoils.
          • Game with the most points in the early slot – also playing are Patriots @ Jets, Broncos @ Jaguars, and Texans @ Browns – in the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be most points at full time (if there was overtime) and then end of third quarter, then end of second quarter, and finally end of first quarter, before sharing the spoils.

Note that I've added tie-breakers for the bonus picks this time, as prior to the overtime, there was a very real prospect that Goff and Herbert were going to finish as joint pass leaders.

All predictions to be in by 1 pm ET on Sunday 19th September to count, and not edited after that time (with minor allowances made if I'm feeling nice).

Forgive me, I thought it was only winning by 1 or 2 scores....so we can go unlimited if we're counting by 8s?

So 25 points is 4 scores? What's the max?

Also, the tiebreaker...is it passing yards FROM the winning runner (as in they completed a halfback option,) or we have to pick ANOTHER player for most passing yards. Same for TDs.

Bears 73 Washington 0.would be ten scores, methinks

Correct on the no limits. You can pick the Arctos Bears to win by 10 scores (although picking the Chicago Bears by the same is... ill advised).

For the tiebreaker, it would be the same player, no need to pick someone else. I'm hoping the breaker won't be needed!

I just realised that many may not know that Chicago 73 - Washington 0 was the most iconic score of a NFL Championship game in the pre.Super Bowl era

Simon G, of course! You don't even have much catching up to do on some of us...

ursus arctos, I wasn't aware, but did wonder if it was a real score or not. Interesting to know, presumably that's the NFL record?

Most points by one team and greatest margin of victory, but not in the top 30 of total points scored by both teams thanks to the shutout

We are using scores in the way that in the fourth quarter they would typically describe it as "an X possession game". Obviously once it is three or four possessions they typically don't talk about it at all unless it tightens to two possessions and then they can talk about an onside kick and clock management. If it never closes the gap, they talk about both teams next match ups and ignore what is happening on the field.

I thought I was doing so well with not picking both teams.

The subconscious weight of picking NFL games a.certain way for 50+ years has certainly left a mark.
