Discovering that Eve-Marie Saint is still eligible sent me off to discover a surprisingly live selection, with a theme ...

      Julie Andrews (OK, not surprising)
      Vera Miles
      Kim Novak
      Tippi Hedren
      (more tangential) Pat Hitchcock

I think the blokes are all dead.

I had a very enjoyable Zoom call with nine friends where we did this, on Saturday.

Sorry if late. My selections are:
        Gillian Duffy (Bigotgate)
        George Carey
        'Diddy' David Hamilton
        John Snow
        Warren Beatty

(Did have Andrews on my list but tee rex beat me to that one).

OK, I'll go with people from (or at least claimed to be from) my home town:

          Willie Henderson
          Julia Goss
          Michelle McManus
          Alex Forsyth
          Elaine C. Smith

Struggled to find any living males that aren't/weren't footballers.

I'm amazed nobody else had him. A tap-in.

There's no such thing as a tap in in the dead pool, as I found out having centenarian Herman Wouk survive for two years.

Amazed no one had Rush Limbaugh, every other U.S and Tory c*nt who's still alive seems to have been taken except him.

We all wanted him to live and see Biden and Harris unravel Trump's agenda, and suffer the stabs to his rotten heart before it would expire.

                      Had anyone got Tina Turner?

                      Not looking good -

I guess in my head Limbaugh was already rotting in hell before this thread started.

When I heard he'd died my first reaction was which OTFer had chosen him.

                              Nobody had Walter Mondale.

They're mourning again in America (that was going to be the thread title but it would likely be a nil, so I didn't bother).

A decent and intrinsically good human who exemplified the best traditions of Minnesota progressivism and remade the role of Vice President into a serious policy role

                                RIP Fritz

I thought he was dead already, tbh. That Carter/Mondale ticket really had longevity after their term in the White House.

Mondale's 1984 campaign was my eye-opener, I guess most of us have one at some stage (call it a reality check or loss of innocence). At the time I thought the famous line in his speech was brilliant:

“Mr. Reagan will raise taxes, and so will I. He won’t tell you. I just did.”

And people always say they want honest politicians, who tell it to them straight, so the voters had to love that, right? Wrong.

Meanwhile Reagan could barely string three words together. But the ads were works of art.

This year I went for people whose death I wouldn't welcome, on the assumption that this will guarantee their survival (but still reasonable enough to be good guesses). It has worked out remarkably well so far for my five picks

The first of my Hitchcock quintet has gone, Alfred's daughter Patricia. She was good in Strangers on a Train.

Point for Crystal Staples for Greavsie. Also while looking for this I see Aitch managed a point a few weeks back from Charlie Watts.

Antepli scores a late point for Bob Dole.
