Last January I set up a half-term prediction contest in which people had to guess the top and bottom places in five English League divisions. There were ten takers. Obviously starting the competition halfway through the season made things easier (though this didn’t prevent four of us prematurely burying Burnley!) but this time we’ll do it from the beginning of the campaign.
Premier League: 4 qualifiers for CL
Premier League: 3 to go down
Championship: 3 to go up
Championship: 3 to go down
League 1: 3 to go up
League 1: 4 to go down
League 2: 4 to go up
League 2: 2 to go down
National League: 2 to go up
National League: 4 to go down
The top four divisions are due to begin on 12 September, so predictions for these must be in by then. You can put in predictions for the National League at any time up to the (at the moment!) official start date of 3 October. Editing is allowed up to the respective deadlines.
One point for each correct prediction irrespective of final positions in the table. 32 points maximum score. Clearly, CL places should give us some easy points but the rest should be much trickier.
My placeholder predictions:
Premier League: Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea
Premier League: Crystal Palace, Fulham, WBA
Championship: Watford, Norwich, QPR
Championship: Rotherham, Huddersfield, Wycombe
League 1: Oxford, Portsmouth, Sunderland
League 1: Rochdale, Accrington Stanley, Crewe, Wimbledon
League 2: Bradford City, Orient, Walsall, Bolton
League 2: Stevenage, Morecambe
National League: Notts County, Barnet
National League: Eastleigh, Bromley, Maidenhead, King’s Lynn
