I'm definitely still up for it. Although it will be a much changed Flowers side - finances have already forced the sale of 4 of my bowlers, with a batsman and my wicket keeper currently on the list. And it still probably won't be enough.

A senior one day friendly tournament played on Saturdays between the OTFers.

Antepli Ejderha Thanks. When might this start? Someone has issued me a challenge for the 10th, albeit a youth match but I don’t know if the game lets you play a youth game and a senior on the same day. I have not accepted the friendly ( and won’t do if it would clash with this).

            It'll probably start 16th Jan.

Antepli Ejderha Do you want to take part? I don't mind having multiple divisions but I can't imagine it will be a massive amount of fun for you.

I'm happy to be number ten to make up numbers but don't want to be responsible for making it two divisions. Thanks Levin

                Granthamian

We're currently on our 4th one day competition. There is one round left and technically 3 teams can still win. I'm not saying anything more than that. I'm pretty sure I jinxed a team last time round.

The Croesoswallt Dragons won our first competition and the Bagillt Baptists the next two. I can say with complete confidence that a new name is going on the trophy this time around.

longeared I've been meaning to ask you. Why did Shahnawaz Mevawala stop bowling?

                Comment

Because he's 33 years old and declining. When I signed him in May he was my best batsman (expert) and third best bowler (accomplished). Now he's dropped to being a reliable bowler - I've got ten players across the squads higher than that so he's not worth bowling, he still just about gets in the team on his batting. I signed Hana Samad a while back as the replacement all rounder and I expect Mevawala will be released in the next couple of months.

What Levin avoided saying, Granthamian is that Village Flowers were runners up in each of the three completed seasons. We're currently top, needing only a win against a team who have admitted literally ten posts ago that they aren't bothering with their senior side any more, and yet I still worry that I'm going to cock it up.

Got the dreaded email this afternoon: Due to the fact that your team has a bank balance of -$41,497 and has been in debt for at least 4 financial updates, your highest wage player (Garrick Ockleshaw) has been put up for sale on the transfer market, in an effort to raise funds and get your team out of debt.
I think if I get a decent price for him I should be ok, but if he goes for less than $10K then I think there'll be another one for sale next week.
Lost an "important" YouthT20 match by 10 runs as well....

Join the club jdsx - I've been in debt for most of the season. On the bright side, no one seems to want to buy my highest wage player, so he's been on the transfer list for three weeks now.

Oof, $14.5K is quite a big wage to cover though. If no-one buys him, does he just stay on the transfer list indefinitely? Does your debt keep on going up and up, or have the previous sales brought you down to a reasonable level? Asking for a friend ;-)

He stays on the transfer list for 72 hours, then the next Monday they try to sell him again. Of the ones that I've already sold, they hardly brought in any money, but obviously lowered the wage bill to the level where I'm slightly in profit (along with the reduction in my academies that I had to make). I'm hoping to limp along to the end of the season, and pick up some prize money then.

I'm thinking of moving my team up to Scotland for next season. My affiliate team plays in Holland, and as there are fewer competitors there it's easier to get to a high division, and thereby receive higher gate takings, so I might take that easier option.

Just dropped in to see how it’s going. Seems the OTF contingent are in rude health. I couldn’t devote the time but it’s a well made game.

You might want to consider Zimbabwe if you want a really easy league. I'm moving my affiliate there at the end of the season.

Would you recommend that for all teams or just affiliates?

My youth academy is now being upgraded to luxurious and is one off the top rating of deluxe, hopefully I'll start to see my players improve their ratings.

I've attached below a training prediction tool (I did not create it). It predicts how fast players will grow on the basis of academy level. It's a nice tool to play around with. It has helped me gain a better understanding of the value for money of different academy levels.

I've neglected to wrap up OTF 4. Congratulations to pebblethefish for taking their first championship. Not only that but I'm awarding MotT to Clay Squires (who was also top run scorer) and Nathan Cleeve took a stunning 30 wickets in 9 matches.
