Congratulations Vicarious Thrillseeker on consecutive championship victories. I don't know what to say that's at all consoling about the Village Flowers, second in every edition of the competition so far.

Shawn Pavy was by far the player of the tournament by every measure, so there is that.

Thanks Levin - I'm pleased to have won, especially as my squad is now mostly under 25 - 10 out of 15 are 24 or under. I feel another rebuild coming on - I've bought a couple of fast bowlers and I'll be looking for good young batting talent soon. My transition season in the Irish divisions has been a mixed bag - think I need to work out what actually works instead of guessing all the time. I tend to get battered by any decent team, so there's work to be done.

There was a certain inevitability to it - you can't let the bowlers get into your tail that early, and I knew that our score was never going to be enough. So I went to the pub and spent an hour envisaging evil tortures to punish my batsmen. Well played though Vicarious Thrillseeker - whatever tactics you played, they clearly worked.

Sadly a combination of age and lack of finance may soon bring the end of my long standing opening bowling pair of Cleeve and Ratcliffe (579 career wickets between them), so another second place next year would be at the higher end of my expectations.

Yeah, well done Vicarious. I did notice that had Dragons beaten Wellworth on the last day then the top six would have finished in the same order as the previous competition.

I also see the game timings have changed as a result of the clocks going back, which gave me a surprise today when I logged in to see the outcome of the toss and found us five wickets down.

I just came on to ask if anyone else had been caught out by that.

The placings are similar but we're all a lot closer now I think. If ad hoc had beaten me a few weeks ago and had a marginally better run rate the Nurdles would have finished 3rd.

This was the first year that the clock change didn't get me.* I honestly did think about posting on here to warn people, but something distracted me (probably work, the bastards), so I didn't.

              * - although my failure to bother to put my watch right yesterday ('cos I know it's an hour fast, so why bother changing it?) did see me get up an hour early this morning, so serves me right.

                Congratulations to Vicarious Thrillseeker

As Sits is no longer an active manager we finished bottom.

In the official leagues I'm certain of promotion in two of them as I'm the only human manager.

In the other two it's much more competitive, I'm top in both and wins or narrow defeats should see me go up.

That's going to mean decent prize money so what do I spend it on?

I'm going to increase my stadium capacity to 15k and possibly upgrade my youth academy. The rest, if there's any left, will sit in the bank.

I think I'll slowly try to follow the advice of TopManager to get a balanced squad by looking at the left right batting combinations to start with.

I've been wondering if it's more profitable to yoyo or to consistently avoid relegation in a fully stocked league. A good amount of prize money every other season (or every season if you manage your competitions well) but poor match income for half the time or a bit more income every week but not much in the way of prizes.

Running totals for all the OTF championships. (Roughly at least, I'm pretty sure I'm missing some players)

Great stats, a player in each tells its own story.

Ryan Hutchinson is our fast bowler, he's destructive but on a high salary.

Well I think the main thing it tells us is who has generally settled sides. As I'm just ranking gross runs and wickets here, those players who are high on the list are, to a degree, the ones who are selected consistently.

Stand outs to my mind are Kavanaugh and Ginsberg of Danefieldshire for their scoring.

I've also noted that my lf Callery may take a lot of wickets but his economy rate is significantly higher than the other players around him on that list. It's a bit of a concern.

If you check the match ratings for each game in the stats centre, you'll see that the Village Flowers had the highest rating every week - except for the last week. My strengths were mostly in my opeining batting and spin bowling

Big win today against a human manager sees the Ferrets win the senior T20 league, only a sole defeat all season. I'm very happy with that. Under 9k in the stands so I might not expand to 15k as I'd first thought.

Thursday is the biggest match for our Youth Team, away to the second placed side. We're a win clear at the top with a slightly better run rate but all of our older Youth players have now graduated.

Thanks. How have you got on since moving to Ireland?

Two pretty much full leagues and two full of zombies. I'm hoping next season will be a little more of the same.

If my affiliate team wins tomorrow, we're up to division 2 in Holland. Which is scary. I do not feel either the team or the manager are good enough for that.

Mixed bag - two promotions in the mostly zombie divisions, two middling seasons with real teams. Still working on getting my squads right.

I managed to avoid promotion to D2 in the T20 on net run rate, which I wasn't too upset about all told. Of more interest was one of my players managing to finish the season with a batting average of 257.00 (257 runs for once out, high score 66*)

A cracking match between the Ferrets and the Baptists, an inexperienced quickie bowling the final over wasn't the difference but didn't help. At least it's a good warm up for tomorrow.

Yes, there have definitely been a few nailbiters today.

The only bad thing about the OTF Yoof is that I've got so used to my Youth team playing a 40 over game on Thursdays that I've spent the whole day thinking it's Friday tomorrow, only for my hopes to be dashed, and I've still got two more work days to go.

My only important game* in the last week of the season was today's youth match for my affiliate team. Needing a win for promotion to division 2 against a team of about the same level as me, we confidently strode to 124-1 off 24 overs. Then decided to implode to 155-7, before limping along to 183 all out, not enough on a dry pitch by about 40-50 runs.

Fortunately, my bowlers seemed to understand the importance of the match more than the batsmen, and after a wicket with the first ball of the innings set the tone, they kept regularly chipping away until the opposition were all gone for 125. So, Division 2 then. I'm going to get mullered next season.

                                            * - Technically my affiliate seniors could also go up tomorrow, but as that scenario would involve the leaders losing to a bot, I'm discounting that one in advance.

Despite a convincing defeat I've got promoted from my Youth One Day League, 13-1 identical records but despite losing by 8 wickets inside 30 overs I'm up.

All four teams go up, two in league full of humans and two full of bots.

                                                    TopManager

I'm trying to summarise your advice here.

Batting is best if it's LR combinations.
If you plan to develop your senior players invest in your senior academy.
A bowling attack that's balanced rather than favouring one style works best.
Once a player hits 25 focus on power and endurance.

                                                    Now some questions.

What should my bowling attack look like? Do LR combinations work well or is that not so important?
Do I stick with the default tactics settings or select D for all tailenders?
I often have my two best bowlers bowl 442 or 433 spells, is that wise?
I've got 3 spinners, all bowl 55 spells, is that wise? Are 3 spinners too much? They are all RFS so I think I know the answer.
