Results of Race #2:
With the traditional rendition of Greensleeves ringing through the air, the 18 racers triple-tied their trainers for the start and let loose onto the city course.
Although it looked like sean the shed would have the quickest first leg of the tri-leg, his initial burst appeared to be due to aversion to discordant amateur be-bop behind him. Wouter D also seemed to have the same aversion, and was near enough to the front of the pack to see initial leaders lambers and hot orange do just enough to squeeze through the major bottleneck at the end of the 5th step.
Clearly, the "D" was distracted on what was ahead, and proceeded to be part of the four-way crash that happened as his jalopy smashed into delicatemoth, sits, and andrew7610. A bloody spectacle of tangled limbs, machine parts, canvas & ropes, chains, whips, dirigible wheels, hatches, batons, paper, and salt.
A senseless tragedy of epic proportions, the cries of pain, oh horror, oh weeping ladies in the balcony, fear not, for one day you too shall pass from this mortal coil into the unknown darkness that awaits, and then, only then will this day be revisited, this pain, this heartache.
Ahem.
That four-way crash was immediately followed by San Bernardhinault and Southport Zeb attempting to squeeze the gap and locking rotors with each other, adding to the pile-up that took time and points from every trailing racer.
Shortly after, newcomers nmrfox and diable rouge played a game of 'you first, no, you first' right up until the point of no return, the third crash of the day.
Other newcomer Sporting wisely stayed behind the fray; way, way, behind the fray in the first leg.
The second leg saw a much more focused group as all the racers righted themselves and caught a fair wind. Only hot orange, who had started so brightly, decided to fall off the pace, stopping for a Gin and Tonic, a small bite to eat, and then the required loo break.
As it was, "O.G" lambers felt safe to slow down, but crash and burn victim sits did not rest on their gravel rash long, bursting forth to claim the non-existent sprint points at the end of step 10. Behind those two came delicatemoth's unstoppable contraption.
With just the final leg to go, through cherry and pinewood lined avenues, with the brownstones and cottages behind, it was anyone's race to claim.
As long as that anyone wasn't the notorious VTS, clearly basking in his Race 1 glory and looking for adulation from the passers-by. Yes, Vicarious Thrillseeker may still be hunting for somebody to brag to. It's possible VTS' hunt distracted the famous bear pennant of ursus arctos, as the pennant-wearing-one was the last over the line.
So indeed, it was lambers who set a frenetic last-leg pace, using the updraft at step 14 to maintain an impressive lead over all competition. Not leader from start to finish, but still an impressive course record of 112 points for "point north zippy".
The podium saw sits in 2nd, and "Mr. Consistency" himself, andrew7610 in third.

The third race:
The race across a windswept, hilly, and snowy terrain will put all racers to a major test of not just heart, but also <taps chest with passion> heart. Leading the pack up to the 2/3rds point (second word) will tire out and burn the engines of the leaders (5 point penalty for those in the 1st-3rd position), due to the heavy head winds expected in that stretch of the valley. Race strategists suggest staying in the pack is the best choice, like when you accidentally buy cinnamon gum or when somebody gifts you a copy of Caddyshack 2.

Hot Orange's second leg in his debut was the worst scoring word so far, tied with one of Kevin S' from the first race.
