Where birds breed?

Thanks again for doing this! I feel about as useful as a pinball machine playing it but it's still great fun.

Race #7 results:
In what will eventually be known as the Alex Trebek memorial race (but for obvious reasons, isn't yet), the word racers took their marks, got themselves set, had a long siesta, stopped by the coffee shops, had a loo break (long lines as only one was in service - yeah, give it a minute, it needs a minute), and eventually... went.
It was the traditional hand on buzzer prank that you order from the back of the 1970s comic book, along with your sea monkeys, and 'x-ray' specs. Excelsior!
Race #7 was a tale of two groups, first, those that provided their series of words for the race in the form of a question, amounting to only 5 racers (San Bernardhinault, Southport Zeb, lambers, Wouter D, and Hot Orange), and second, literally everyone else.
Whether the second pack could make up ground on the first was yet to be seen, though early indication was: not very likely.
In fact, the fearsome fivesome may have not needed the early separation, each putting down impressive pedals to the metals, all sails unfurled speeeeeeeed.
Southport Zeb and Hot Orange were particularly impressive, their coffee appearing to have been 'special' - perhaps frothed with a nice shell or tree?, their loo breaks 'surprisingly refreshing', their engines purring as though recently oiled, massaged, and left to bake in the oven at 350 degrees.
The Ess B and the big D also looked impressive in the early going, with lambers putting in a decent, if not quite as quick four-legged start.
As for the lolly-gaggers, anchors dragging, barnacles lingering, parachutes still awkwardly deployed, you wouldn't have to look far to see both delicatemoth and andrew7160 still hanging around the start line.
Onto the second leg, the leg which we would call "Double Jeopardy!" if we weren't infringing upon copy-right laws. (To be clear, we don't call it "Double Jeopardy!", please don't sue us Alex.)
With the second group starting to gain ground, lambers finally found his mutton, shaving those corners of the California streets, nearly keeping pace with the dastardly runnings of Zeb, or as we call him, Zebediah.
Local hombre San Bernardhinault perhaps saw some people he knew, stopped for a chat, and saw his initial lead nearly vanish.
Of the second group, Patrick Thistle and his whistle, and Sead of the Sean of the Shed would certainly have kept pace, had they not been held back, physically, by the judge himself at the start. ("Punctuation!")
The third leg, definitely not called "Final Jeopardy", that sounds stupid. No we call it the 'bonus round', and while we aren't allowed to use the rotating set that has a bunch of household goods that legitimately nobody wants and usually sells immediately, and even though we can't have Vanna White (she never returned our calls), we definitely can afford the rights to 'bonus round'.
It's Zeb baby came into the final leg with a massive lead, perhaps gifting him with too much confidence, even Hot Orange, just barely pushing his contraption across the finish line with oars out managed a dubiously better effort.
In truth, the third leg proved problematic for all the racers, perhaps not accustomed to the warmth of the Sun, that warm California Sun, where the girls and boys are really the most. Don't you wish they could all be California? Of the riders only the pasha Balderdasha and the notorious VTS seemed to find their groove thing.
But in the end, finally, I mean, finally. How many words has this been, like 1000? The 1st groups advantage was too much. The trio of Hot Orange, Southport Zebediah, and lambers took their early lead right to the finish line, and claimed the podium spots in that order.
Shen of the Sead of the Sean of the Shed found enough juice at the end to push past SB and Wouter D, both dawdling to squeak into 4th, just ahead of the wailing big-wheeled trike of VTS.
Down at the bottom of the pack, it was a forgettable day for andrew7160, elguapo04, and delicatemoth, having been in the 2nd group, never really found enough motion in the ocean to mount a comeback. Also Sporting.
