There's always a lag between releasing a rider and them appearing on the hire list, presumably to stop people co-ordinating the release / signing of a rider.

Put Shubkin in a race today on breakaway duties. He had good legs, there was a breakaway which decided the race and .... he finished 68th.

I got 160k for Farnum so yeah, I imagine he will be expensive.

Whew. All that time resetting and waiting for top form may finally have been worth it as Kavanagh won Div 4 Taka-Shima against tough opponents. Next for Kavanagh is another Div 4 classic, but this one I have no expectations about finishing top 10. If I've timed all this right, I should have enough buffer to hang onto Div 4 status in time to get into the La Coupe de la Soif ?ternelle (3-stage) Tour that starts the next season. Maybe the only tour Kavanagh will ever have a chance at in his career. If I'm really lucky, I'll get enough new points to bounce into Div 3 and get that sweet promotion bonus, just before returning to Div 4 (as I have 100 points coming off my 90-day before Season end).

Over on the WT with IoM, we have Budapest-Debrecen sprint, which based on current sign-ups, should really be a win for Illingworth. If he's ever going to get a WT win, this is the time. Outside chance of putting Ridsdale, Kavanagh, Crumley, and Vencil in the top 20 or better as the field is fairly weak with only one day left for sign-ups.

Farnum still not hit the Hire List yet.

              Hard luck IoM.

Meanwhile if Etienne’s riders come up now I will have less than $1k free.

                  Still no Kurt Farnum.

last race on the World Tour is the 3s race Glasgow-Edinburgh.

I'm not sure what to do for Fast on Wheels. Do I take it stage by stage and have my leader be whoever is best suited to winning that particular stage or do I do everything I can to support my TTer and hope that support will keep him not too far from the pack on flat stages?

                    Comment

Hmmm... I genuinely am not certain. The 'king' stage for that one is 4th stage ?rhus - Vejle, a hill heavy one. Perkis probably has a shot at the both of the TT stages and is a better FR/SP than his nearest competition on that front.

You might have to play this one stage by stage and see how much of a real chance Perkis has up through stage 3. If he's not in the GC, throw Vencil at Stage 4?

                      Comment

That's probably the best way to go. I should have an idea after stage 3 if Perkis is in with a shout. Of course there's a very good chance that after 3 stages I've got no one in the GC.

One option if Perkis is doing ok though may be to chuck Vencill on a free role for stage 4. Although that would weaken Perkis' support team.

                        Cor, I love cycling tactics.

This really is a good game isn’t it? Slow at times, frustrating many times, but could be all-consuming if you let it.

I'm leading a stage race! Only by two seconds, and I'm unlikely to be able to defend it. But I've got to try haven't I?

Nice Levin. He's some rider, so hopefully he can do this tour. (At least both TT stages.)

Almost. I tried to put in the ones with spread out skills. Illingworth is captain. Annoyingly, I clicked to put Vencill on breakaway but he's come up as a team-mate.

I reckon Etienne's riders have been and gone.

Farnum (just looking now) got picked up pretty quick by a Div 2 team. Didn't even see him on the HL.

He was up for about half an hour, around 5.30pm UK time on Thursday. Would have set you back $162146. (I know this because I logged in at this time to take a rider off training and then sat watching to see him sold, not like I had much else to do)

6th in Stage 2! Still in 1st on GC as it doesn't look like there were any time bonuses.

I'm surprised that I was competing (and beat) riders with SP that was 30-40 more than Perkis. I guess that shows what a good leadout can do.

My next decision. Do I keep the leadout the same for the next stage or do I make Vencill a hill helper and rejig my leadout? This stage is CL 1 HL 4 FR 4 SP 3. I'm leaning towards going with the hill helper and trying to stop breakaways.

Hang in there Perkis. 3rd in GC after Stage 3 but the gap is minor.

                                          Thank you!

A off day for Perkis but Vencill had good legs. As can be seen in the results where Hill Helper Vencill finished 9th to Perkis' 15th.

I think I've got to stick to the same tactics tomorrow. It's the king stage and has a massive 8 in hills. Perkis is going to need all the help he can get to minimise his losses but he's too close to the top to abandon him now.

Edit: oh, I don't know though. Maybe it's time to let Vencill ride.

Ha! Well done Perkis. It's a good conundrum to have, let the Hill specialist loose or make him work for the team leader!

Not for me thank you Sits , I'm training up a new youngster at the moment VG TQ G TT Avg SP CL should be a good leadout.

Sad face. I made the wrong choice on the tour.

Vencill finished 11th while acting as a hill helper. So two top 15 finishes as a helper, crossing the line well ahead of his team leader each time. I'm sure he helped, but I can imagine that Perkis gave him the nod when it became clear that Perkis didn't have it in him to keep up with the leaders. Vencill climbed to 13th overall 1'24" down on the leader. The only stages left are a TT and a flat as a pancake stage so I don't see him taking any time now.

Perkis is well off the leaderboard now, he might make some time back tonight in the TT but it's only 37km and he needs a minimum of 2'00" and probably a good chunk more. (I do wish you could see the whole GC,) Stage victories now and Perkis stands a chance for that.

Not for me either Sits. I'm going to be focused on finding 190+ sprinters for the next several months (and training the ones I have already).

This tour is a tough one to judge. I think Vencil has an outside chance at the Youth Classification still?

(And Perkis may still be in the GC, will depend entirely on his performance in the sprint stage, right? Assuming he closes the gap in the TT)

Nothing for Fox River out of the race today, so tomorrow's Luanda Streets is our last hope for points before season turnover. I'm still considering letting Albrecht go (Av 45,~ 190 climber), but he is still handy to have as he can be captain in races with lots of breakaway riders. He will eventually need to exit so I can get his full value though.
