Hmm, probably not? I'm not sure there are enough races to make that worth it unless you are confident that are tours where it would make a difference.

But yeah, he looks like a good breakaway rider to me, particularly on those hilly one day races. As a teammate, pretty useful too I think.

There is actually a forum thread tracking 'real breakaway' results now, just FYI.

I'd be happy to receive some advice.
      Name: Jeffrey Perkis
      Nation: Isle of Man
      Team: Veridian Dynamics
      Stats: CL: None (27)
      DH: None (32)
      HL: None (25)
      SP: None (30)
      FR: Average (65)
      CB: None (25)
      TT: Incredible (94)
      TQ: Small (54)
      Potential: CL: None
      DH: Average
      HL: Average
      SP: Small
      FR: Good
      CB: None
      TT: Incredible
      TQ: Average

Do you think I should carry on with FR & TQ as much as possible or should I give him a bit more all round and spend some money on SP and HL?

Looking at TT routes they tend to have 1 or 2 in SP and maybe a little HL. I can't do anything about CL and DH and there aren't enough CB TT races to worry about.

I was just looking at the top specialists thread, and top TTers are TT+FR+TQ, and #10 on the list is at 241pts.

I make Perkis at 213, so attempting ~10 more in FR seems definite.

Maxing TQ next, then everything else after, since bringing some of those others up slightly is pretty cheap. SP doesn't seem useful at all as an investment if you can bring HL up too. Overall max is the big question.

Cheers Matt. I'm very glad I took your advice previously to not sell him.

A win for Kavanagh (a repeat win on a Div 7 race from two seasons ago, so not unexpected), and a really great result today as cobbler Marvin Grau got a 2nd in a cobble race. Top Form. It's great. A pain to get it 'when intended', but great.

Looks like DM got IoM signed up for the national team race. It's not a likely win or place, but you never know.

Hmmm.... unlike some others, I seem to get a pretty good hit rate from my talents. This is the one that I just got (23 year old):
                Potential: CL: Good
                DH: Good
                HL: Good
                SP: Average
                FR: None
                CB: Small
                TT: None
                TQ: Small
With 42 in CL to start and low 30s for DH and HL. That's a 210+ Climbing potential, as long as he doesn't max under 100 training points. The only downside is the Nones for FR and TT.

I'm definitely bringing him on, but have to decide if I'd train him over some other riders or try to sell him. Anybody have thoughts?

He’s a cracking talent, but at 23 needs to be prioritised or sold. You could get a decent price selling him on the transfer forum I’d say - six figures easily.

Caution: I’ve been wrong about the transfer forum before.

Or I’ll take him off your hands at cost...

Private deal? It's definitely possible. How much could you scrape together though? Enough to avoid an interrupt bid on the forum?

Or, we just start it as a low cost private deal, and hope nobody cares/notices the thread.

I’m only kidding Matt but thanks. It’s taken me ages just to scrape $20k together to get back to training Wilhelm Bang. I’d have to sell to buy.

Fascinated to see what happens. What’s the rider’s name?

Howard Lederach... still need to cut a player to get funds to bring him on. I'll post his transfer thread when it's up.

“Player” - I keep almost doing that. I haven’t yet described one of my Xpert Eleven players as a “rider” but it’s only a matter of time.

Ha. here is my 'player' transfer thread:

                              http://www.cyclingsimulator.com/forum/transfer/412917

Legitimately no idea if he will sell, but one of the mods says he will, so.....

Edit: Just checking the previous transfers, and good lord, is there some serious cash spent on lesser talents. This might be a nice big cash influx.

                                He's already up to 70k, I see.

We did a race in Spain today and performed unusually competently, finishing 3rd, 4th, 10th and 18th. That was a nice little haul of points before a bigger clump comes off next weekend.

up to about 125k. Feels super lucky to have gotten him now. (Edit: one of the teams bidding now has 4.5 million in the bank. Hooked the big fish.)

Good (enough) results for Fox River today. Kavanagh finished 2nd (though should have won), but Combs got a 7th (and Crumley a 10th) to make up for it. Starting to plot my sequence of flat road races that should be similar to two seasons ago, and with any luck should actually piece some results back-to-back again.

National team race has filled up to full allotment of teams. My totally accurate and absolutely scientific predictor says Kavanagh in the top 10. Possibly? That would be awesome. I'm more hopeful as that's a couple of duplicate teams in that top ten, meaning if they focus on the captain, even a better possible result for IoM?

What does it mean when someone posts "tag" to the transfer thread?

DM has picked my rider Hohmann for Wexford - Dublin, which makes me a proud manager. First time I've had a call up for a WT race.

I think it probably just is a method of tracking the thread since any replies to a forum thread will show in the 'overview' page.

I'm looking closer at some of the transfer threads now (since I've ignored it up until now). There are honestly some good deals out there for riders already trained. There is a 'full team' sale right now that has some riders that could be picked up for not much more than release value, I think.

It draws you in, that Transfer forum, as does the Free Hire List.

Well done on your sale Matt, I think he’s now at more than I got for Arthur Toole; $120k IIRC. Interestingly the team which bought him (IndieRock) sold him on just over a month later, and he’s now 27 and only ever got trained up on HL. I wonder how often these big deals don’t get trained up properly.

“Big” being a relative term. There are some much, much bigger numbers paid.

Got my first points in div 5! TTing looks like it will bring in a steady flow of ranking points now I've got a decent guy. I've got TT handlebars and am thinking of buying a TT bike. That might wait for me to find a second decent TTer though.

Looking forward to this afternoon's world tour race. Next up is a climbing one.

Nice! Was that just a 'steady' tactic for Perkis in that one?

205k and 9 days left. hoo. Trying to plot how I spend the income wisely in a month's time. Based on Perkis' results, definitely going to keep investing in Tolers and Grau.

Also considering whether that 70/70 CB/TQ in that team sale is worth it for ~63k. (http://www.cyclingsimulator.com/?pag...ile&id=1175310) Seems a useful teammate.

No, I went risky for him. I can understand why Cordova won as he has tons of sprinting and the course had sprinting 6. I guess the marginally better TT & SP with Stice got him second.
