        [Latvia v Faroe Islands]

        Latvia v Faroe Islands 2-0

It might be quicker, but it’s less aesthetically-pleasing to me - and makes one read it in an odd way.

I like them to look like final scores, as though emerging from the teleprinter.

Ah, now if you wanted teleprinterese, Jah, you'd go for Latvia 1 Faroe Islands 0. Its later incarnation, the vidiprinter, would sometimes wink its cursor tantalisingly for a few seconds having got as far as Chelsea 1 Tottenham Hotspur ...

You're probably alluding to the Final Score tabulation. Len Martin, Frank Bough, eh? Torquay United evening kick-off at 7:30. Telegram claims for 23 or 24 points. Marvellous.

And that's another reason to put the scores in the middle as well.

Maybe so. I definitely like that style of ‘final score’ layout, however - it’s perhaps more ‘Sunday papers’ than teleprinter. (Not having this ‘Man Utd v Spurs 1-6’-layout though. Apart from the points already raised, putting ‘vs’ makes folk read it as ‘versus’, rather than ‘v’ which is frankly ugly.)

I sense the genesis of a cabal of ideologues intent on Taking Back Control of the prediction scoreline format.

Shall we take this to a referendum?

No need for a referendum, this competition is under totalitarian rule. Anyone deviating from the desired format should consider themselves lucky I am not implementing points deductions.
