Just wait till he hears what Neville said, he'll really lose his shit. Oh wait, he's white so he'll let it slide.

That "we don't want you" is a great line. They should just take the knee until the booing stops but tell the other team to carry on. So what if they let a goal in.

Quite amusing this spectacle of weasel-word politicians getting called out by plain-speaking sportspeople who have no problem calling bullshit when they see it

The England football squad is quite clearly populated by intelligent, compassion, politically active young men with a progressive mindset who are unafraid to speak truth to power.

The more success they have, the bigger their platform becomes and the harder it is to ignore their voices. I've always been a bit of a reluctant England supporter but more and more these lads are winning me over.

I've mistakenly had optimism about the future before, so i am very wary of getting burned again, like all the other times. But, this does feel positive at the moment (he says warily)

I already loved Marcus Rashford, but Tyrone Mings and Harry Kane have gone up massively in my estimation over the past 24 hours.

I'm daring to hope that Sunday's may prove to be the best and most important result in England's history.

Martyn Ware nails it, doesn't he?

Going back to the OP, I suspect that the statement was all Rashford's own work. It's entirely unedited. You'd expect a PR person to clean it up at least a little. As it is, we have a raw, personal statement from the heart by somebody who can write better pay-off lines than anything you might study at marketing school.

Marketers strive for authenticity. Rashford is just authentic.

I previously associated Tyrone Mings only with stamping on people's faces in the heat of battle, but have to admit he seems like an absolute model professional and person.

By the by, Mings was great in this tournament for England on the pitch, deputising for Maguire superbly and seemingly giving way without an issue when Maguire rightly came back in.

Tyrone has long been one of the good guys (face stamps notwithstanding):

Harry Kane is absolutely one of the good guys (see his sponsoring of Leyton Orient with local charities) even if he can seem a bit of a corn ball, so to speak

Perhaps the England squad should try to "jib in" to Downing Street like so many fans did at Wembley on Sunday.

Because it's Taco Bell, not actual food.
