Uncorking the cava: Spain vs Slovakia

He really should have made a reference to cider.

Probably the most interesting group, this one - all sorts of permutations are possible, including Spain finishing unbeaten with three draws but finishing bottom and going out.

My Spanish colleagues are incredibly nervous.

This could be 0-0 with Spain going out. Or (more likely) it could be 5-0 and they'll wonder what they were worried about. It's hard to see Slovakia scoring, or even holding the ball long enough in the Spain half to relieve pressure.

Spain scored against Poland so there's at least the hope they can get one. Then it's a case of whether Slovakia can get the ball.

Sheep dreams aloud: 1-0 Slovakia, 1-0 Sweden, third-placed team eliminated.

Perhaps an idea to roll Sweden v Poland in to this thread given the tightness of the group?

Maybe we can discuss the final session of the cricket final here too?

Busquets starts, Possibly this is good for Spain but all he will be doing is collecting loose balls and roling them forwards. But look at how much he's won!

Trying to triple screen and run TMS audio is way too complex.

To continue an earlier theme, Clive Tyldesley has said he's put some new batteries in the calculator. Given you can get only 0, 1 or 3 points from a game and, so far, teams in this group have scored only 0, 1 or 2 goals, if he needs a calculator then there really is no hope for him.

                              Sverige already ahead through Forsberg.

Slovakia's manager has the air of a pub rock band's bass player, especially with that open-collared white shirt and waistcoat combo.

That should not be a penalty, the attacker is nowhere near the ball and instead hangs their foot in front of the defender as they try to clear. Justice done with the save.

Morata inevitably missed. 5 missed penalties in a row for Spain now.

Amnesty need to step in and end this torture of Morata.

Proximity to the ball has never had anything to do with the award of a penalty (or the punishment of any foul), I've seen one correctly given when the ball was on the halfway line.

If the attacker really did deliberately manufacture that he almost deserves the penalty, I don't think he did though.

                                                  Spain got a head start

They are zero for their last five in all competitions
