A game in the fake Olympic stadium: Spain vs Sweden

Horrible stadium. And it will be warm. Here's hoping for better from the actual football.

The heat might obviate the advantage Sweden have gained from Spain's COVID chaos.

Both teams in plastic Adidas pac-a-macs for the anthems in 29 degree evening heat, madness!

Laporte's new-found Spanishness had hitherto escaped me.

All the games are on Swedish telly for free, but I got a VPN anyway because their commentary is boring and their analysis is miserable. Currently watching on Telecinco. Proper Euros feeling now...

Spain are getting down to the byline, which is good news for them (not just playing in front of the Swedes).

Anyone else deeply disappointed that Sweden don't have blue shorts on?

Does anyone else find themselves subconsciously (and probably completely unfairly in many cases) downgrading the "extra" players with squad numbers 24 - 26?

Gvardiol's frustrating performance yesterday reinforced my feelings, though Bellingham's cameo was more promising.

Spain, of course, don't even have a 25 or 26 having not filled the full squad allowed.

First time I've seen so many Swedes wearing masks.

Oh and Luis Enrique has the trendy manager look down. Unshaven, sitting on a cooling box pulled up to the edge of the technical area, wearing a loose fitting dress shirt with sleeves pulled half up.

The Swedish manager looks very Swedish.

Closest the Swedes have come so far.

Hugely overrated. Constantly offside. He could be offside playing table football.

Spain would be great if they had a finisher, but without one they're fucked.

Has it been mentioned why Spain only chose 24 players in their squad?

Ah, it's actually 15 and 25 missing from their numbers, the former is usually Ramos's.

Luis Enrique wanted a tight squad with everyone thinking they had a chance to play.

On the half-time highlights. Spain were lucky, off their defender onto the post, into the keeper's hands. Could just as easily have gone in.

Ekdal looked gone after about half an hour. Wonder how long he'll last before being taken off.

Lustig messing up what could have been a decent chance with his left foot. Morata scuffs another one wide.
