    Other club mentions

    Apart from the usual suspects.

Are Brentford still "other"? Until the Premier league fixtures come out, let's say yes. Anyway, the Turkish player who's been out on loan has got the Bees onto the commentary honours board (Martin Tyler).

Another of the Turkish subs plays for Le Havre in Ligue 2, which I found pleasingly niche.

Especially as the BBC commentator - you know, presumably employed for THE EUROS on the basis of having some rudimentary knowledge of European geography and languages - pronounced it "Lee Harver".

You can expect a lot of "other clubs" will get mentioned when Wales play.

Mowbray was running through all of the smaller Italian clubs that Mancini had selected players from.

              Is that where Mahrez was?

                Yes

As were Pogba, Payet, Mendy and a host of others

They have long had one of the best youth systems in the country, with a speciality of developing players from the Paris suburbs who don't get picked by PSG

It is increasingly the case that the "big" Italian clubs field sides of players who don't qualify for Italy. Inter are particularly notorious for this.

You might once have said Le Havre are the French Crewe, when that was a more welcome comparison.

When the great Luton side of the late 80s broke up, and the French league was a lucrative option, Ricky Hill went to Le Havre, while Brian Stein signed for their rivals Caen.

Do Trabzonspor count as an other club? The Romanian commentators told us on a number of occasions that Turkey's goalie played there

I was always under the impression that Trabzonspor were the fourth team in Turkey which would make them the team outside of Istanbul.

                          They are.

Şenol Güneş was their goalkeeper during their most successful period, they won six titles including three in a row. He's now the manager of the national side.

Erdogan obviously wants to change that with his personal plaything, but has so far been notably unsuccessful in developing real support for Başakşehir

Free tickets were the only thing that drew crowds. Erdoğan is a Fenerbahçe fan apparently so really isn't that interested in Başakşehir.

Favour. It's a conservative area created and funded by the municipality that was controlled by Erdoğan, he's also the former mayor of Istanbul. He's also got a stadium named after him in the central Kasımpaşa district of the city.

I've completely not got the idea of the thread at all. I even tried reading it.

No need to over-think it. Commentator says "United's Pogba", no points. Says Bristol Rovers, points. Says Leicester's Schmeichel, no points. Says Notts County's Schmeichel, points. As every tournament, feel the thrill of The Mention.

Ethan Ampadu on for Wales. Commentator doesn't mention Exeter City, only Sheffield United and Chelsea. Boo.
