    Rangers' Financial Meltdown

Hopefully AMMS, Alex Anderson and OTF's Scottish contingent will indulge me here. Aside from Wikipedia, is there a good resource (online or otherwise) detailing the story of Rangers' financial collapse and entry into administration? I'm particularly looking for something with as much background as possible. Specifically, I'd like to know when it began to dawn on people that the unfolding situation was going to get very bad indeed for the club. When did the problems first appear? The OTF threads passim on Scottish football are great but it'd be difficult wading through all of them.

Well, there is the Rangers Tax Case blog, which while definitely not being “Rangers-minded”, is very detailed and allows one to see it all unspooling in real time. It also won the Orwell Prize
, and the entries linked in the award citation are a good introduction if you aren’t fancying a slog through a couple of hundred posts in chronological order.

Here's the goal that put them into administration.

I was up the other end of the park.

That tax case blog exists as a book, I believe Middlesbrough Central Library has a copy. It's a very interesting read.

            Administration eventually became liquidation.

Irish journalist Phil Mac Ghiolla Bhin chronicled Rangers financial meldown in his book Downfall.

              He also regulary blogs at:

I can't see RC being able to stomach a book by Phil Mac giollabhain. After ten pages he'd find himself writing a literary lampoon.

I have to confess I've not heard of Phil Mac Ghiolla Bhin, I'm afraid.
