    Lenny Johnrose

Lenny has gone public on being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

From a player so heroic on the pitch, that's an extremely tough read.

A close old Bury supporting friend of mine, now himself sadly departed, loved Lenny dearly.

                RIP.

I can point out exactly where I am on the video of Bury fans celebrating after he scored the goal which clinched the Second Division championship on 3rd May 1997. He and his team-mates are the reason that when I think of that year and being 16-years-old, I smile.

He was an incredibly committed player. Never gave less than his best. He gave me two hours of his time on a Saturday morning for the book and it was a privilege to listen to him talking about his career.

Motor neurone disease is an excellent though sad argument for voluntary euthanasia. I watched the early and mid stages of an ex-colleague of mine who suffered the disease. So sad
